My husband is stationed at Fort Bragg! My friends and I watch this show religiously, but since we are military wives we tend to pick it apart shamelessly for the flaws. The story lines are great though and it keeps me tuning in week after week.

We really like the show, and watch it every week. In some ways, it's realistic, but in other ways it definitely isn't. My husband is in the Air Force (I know there are some differences between Air Force and Army, but a lot of things are much the same). We spent the first two years of our marriage living in military housing. There are definitely women on base that are like Meredith and are just looking for people to gossip about, but there are plenty of others who aren't like that at all.
At least on our base, some of the friendships wouldn't be realistic. High ranking officers live in a different section of base housing than Airmen do. Most Colonel's wives wouldn't even consider being friends with someone who's husband was just an airman.

I think it is a great show- I often wondered what it is like on Base- not that this is a true picture- I stayed with my brother on base for a week once in Tennessee- It was great- close knit- He then went to NC- and he didn't live on base- It was ok- I do love the show-

I've really been enjoying Army Wives and will miss it until the second season starts. I'm a Navy brat but the show does hit pretty close to home with some of the shows. I look forward to seeing what comes next, especially after the season finale. Talk about a tear jerker! :)

I'm an army wife myself, I love this show and the book it was based on. ("Under the Sabers: The unwritten code of Army Wives" By Tanya Biank)
I agree, some women are alot like Meredith, but at the same time, that's if she's an army wife or not. But the strength and bonds that you make with military friends, will be a friendship you will carry for the rest of your lives!
