Reading the label on a used bag of catnip, I was surprised to learn that catnip can be given to a cat with his/her food! Now that's something that may very well shake Columbus and Waffles out of their sleepiness, lol.
Since the bag arrived with Mimi and her other things, I considered letting her have a little. I've never dealt with catnip before and feel just a tad apprehensive about giving it to my cats, as I am afraid that the stuff will make them go bonkers.
So I guess I need a little assurance. Would you give your cat a teaspoon of catnip with his/her food once in a while?

I don't know how the dried would work, but we give each our cats 3 leaves of fresh catnip every day or so. I think 3 fresh leaves would be about a half teaspoon dried.

i wouldn't waste the stuff that way to be honest... i've never heard of using it in their food. now, i've taken fresh catnip from my plant outside and given it to them, and they'll end up eating it... so it won't hurt them....
i would take their toy mice or whatever and rub the toy in the catnip and give them the toy to see what they do. that's what i do with my bunch.
