I had seizures when i was about 2 yrs old due to high fever. Lately MY older sister who is 28 yrs old had seizures but doctors wasnt able to detect the cause. It was so serious that she was placed in ICU( intensive care unit). what is the real cause of sezure? I thought this is only evident in children that has high fever?

Seizures can be because of illnesses, accidents, wrong medication ( medicine can cause seizures) or because of bad genes. They can be hereditary. If your sister is otherwise healthy, has not been in an accident then she has gotten it from your parents. She might well pass it on to her children. Not every family member gets it, sometimes it jumps over generations. Seizures can be controlled very good with medication. If one takes the pills regularly one does not get seizures.

There are many different things that can cause seizures, and it can be very hard to pinpoint the cause. In fact, many of the "seizure disorders" that the doctor might diagnose your sister with aren't completely understood, but there are medicines that can sometimes control the seizures. My family has had a lot of problems with seizures over the past couple of years. Last year while I was pregnant with my son, I started having seizures, and the doctors couldn't find the cause. After a full round of neurological tests, and still no signs of any reason, it was pretty very nerve-wracking. In my case, the seizures went away after I had my son, but I've had other health problems since then that it's speculated could be related. My son has also had seizures recently. He is one year old, and we think it likely that his seizures are just because of fever, but because of my history they are going to run neurological tests on him as well in case it could be something related. I do hope that your sister gets better, and they find what's causing her situation! Most likely after a few tests they will start trying different medicines that could control the seizures.
