Ok this is for all those who have missed Niamh's antics over the last few weeksand for one friend in particular who loves to hear what my lovely daughter has been up to! The other week it was Niall's Prizegiving at school, he had done very well and we were very proud of him! I was going to wear a smock blouse and knowing that although some people wear jeans others get very dressed up I asked him if I looked ok or did he want me to smarten up a bit! He told me that I looked fine and he didn't care what I wore as long as I was comfortable (bless!) just then a little 5 year old voice piped up " well if you are wearing that I am not going with you - that would be too embarrasing" I looked at my little angel in disbelief and said "pardon"? She promptly told me that I looked like I was still wearing my nightclothes and she would be embarrased to be seen with me! Her brother told her she was being nasty and had hurt Mummy's feelings and she promptly burst into tears and looked at me with a trembling mouth and tear filled eyes and said " but Mummy you always say I must always tell the truth"!
How can I win - she is still always a step ahead! lol xxx

I thought the top was ok too honey - will you please tell my Mom it wasn't really a nighty! lol If I got a tiara she would just steal it off me! pmsl They loved the photos wee - the biggest problem now is that they keep asking when we can come to yours and play again! I so wish I could have run that day - just to see the look on your face! hugs xxx

Awwwwwww, how cute is that? I love some of the things kids come out with. It's right what she says though... we encourage them to tell the truth and she's too young yet to really know about tact. lol. Still, you know what the next lesson has to be, don't you? ha ha ha
Brightest Blessings, my friend. xx

I'm so glad to see that Niamh is back to her old self again, and this is just so cute. Sometimes when we teach our kids to be honest at all times, we get more than we bargained for. It's sweet that she felt bad when she 'thought' she'd hurt your feelings too. Did you end up wearing the blouse?

Sorry, mummymo, having read through the rest of the discussion, I can see that you didn't wear the blouse until the next day.:)

It´s good to hear that your lovely little girl is back to normal. I had to laugh at the comment she made, it´s just so straightforward. What do they say? Only children and drunks tell the truth, although I´m not too sure about the latter ones. I´m sure you looked great, but to her, your blouse looked like a nighty. It´s HER truth.
Don´t worry, my daughter told me the other day that I looked as if I wanted to provoke men and added with a stern look: "You know what I mean, don´t you?" I thought I was wearing a harmless pair of jeans, lol. Believe me, those jeans don´t look the same to me since she pronounced her particular point of view.

hehehehee well as I said earlier the poor Baby I mean she is only doing as she has been told and telling the truth there what you have to tell her is that she does with a bit of tactic like "No Mum you look rubbish, please go and change I am sure you have something nicer then that" hehehe
Ok I am joking lol but as I said to you Kids have a great way of being honest specially Girls lol Mel still has lol
She is so adorable lol

When people ask about if they look nice wearing something, then they don't want the truth, they just want to be told 'Yes', so it must be really nice for you to get the plain unvarnished truth - "NO! you don't look good in it".
If your daughter is embarrased to be seen with you, then you really need to change your mirror so you can see what you really look like. You did teach her to always tell the truth, so you have to abide by that even if you don't agree with it.
ps. only joking of course you look good in it.

Thanks MsTickle honey - that is sweet! They are very clever children - they must have gotten my brains as mine seems to have disappeared! We just heard that Niamh got the excellence award for her year - we were on holiday the last week of school and missed the assembly so I think she will get her certificate and trophy when school starts back in August! xxx

LOL you can always rely on young children to tell it like it is hun, and this is a fine example of just how intelligent she is.

Mom I might have guessed you would have taken her side! It wasn't a nighty - it was a trendy top - and no I am NOT to old to wear a trendy top! lol That is it - if the little madam reads this she will begin to boss us around even more than usual so I'm not gonna let her read it so there! lol Love you Mom xxx
