There is not set recipe for fruit salad, its just fruit in a bowl. My mother puts blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, in it as well as what you have already. I have also seen slices of apples and mandarin oranges in it before too.

There are so many!!! Apple and pears are good but too much of these because they always seem to swamp the salad! kiwi fruit, mangoes, oranges, peaches, nectarines! pineapple gawd what else? oh make sure you sprinkle some sugar and sqeeze fresh lemon wedges into it, and dont fill it up with juices as the fruit doesnt stay nice and fresh this way! lol i hope this helps i have been experimenting recently trying to eat heathier! (oh and the sugar, thats for when you have sour strawberries etc, sweetens them right up!) :)

You can use any fruit that is seasonal and you enjoy, to bring it altogether I pour a can of seven up or ginger ale over it and then chill, you can almost semi freeze this as it will be delicious, or you can serve it cut up into chunks and serve it with a dip of vanilla pudding and whipped cream.

How about pineapple? You can even used the canned chunks if dealing with fresh it more of a hassle than you want to deal with....but then you will still have the nice yellow color added. How about some blueberries too?

I'm responding to you from email, so if there are repeats, I apologize. :)
I might also like to add...
blueberries,
pitted cherries
pineapple (fresh!!)
raspberries
Manadrian Oranges
At last minute you could add banana slices as well. I don't usually like to, because they turn brown so quick.
Although the mixture you have sounds perfect! (and it's a lot cheaper!!) You really don't have to add anything more.
Happy 4th!!

The fruit salad I remember from childhood had these ingredients:
orange
pineapple
apple
banana
passionfruit
It was always a great combination, and very refreshing.

I used to work with someone who made the best fruit salad in the world. All she did when she made it was to cut supremes from various citrus fruit, then for every 6 oranges, 2 grapefruits, 1 lemon and 1 lime she would add 1 large can of fruit cocktain w/ the juice and 1 small jar of marishino cherries drained. She would let that soak together overnight in the fridge before serving it.
My god was it good.
I don't recommend using strawberries if you use pineapple or citrus fruit, tho. I know someone who tried that and the acidity turned the strawberries.

If you enjoy the great taste of tropical fruit, go for pineapples and kiwi. These make great summer time fruits in fruit salad and they are mighty delicious. I would by the pineapple fresh and cut it up into small pieces. Don't buy any fruit from the can because it may contain preservatives and it may not taste as good than the produce. If you intend put grapes in your fruit salad, buy the seedless type. Good luck to you!

I think pineapple would make a nice addition. When we have receptions, that is the mix of fruit that always seems to be served (minus the watermelon). If you wanted to be real exotic, you could try some kiwi or mango, too.

Sorry for repeating...I love to put fresh pineapple and kiwi in my fruit salad. I also like to add mini marshmellows and a few chopped up walnuts. I think that whatever fruit you put in will be great. If you want the fruit to stay fresh looking, toss it in a tiny bit of sprite or 7-up, this makes the fruit so it won't brown so fast.

Apples, bananas, and oranges
There are all kinds of fruit salads and one that I like the most is a strawberry kind. I don't know the exact name of it but it is more of a jello fruit salad.
It has prepared strawberry jello, chunks of strawberries, whipped cream, pecans, and marshmellows all mixed together.
