Emotionally scarred after blackmail and death threats

I had a boyfriend for 1 year and a half. During our first year, we were doing OK. We had a long-distance relationship. But after the first year, he started being very posessive. He would keep on telling me that if ever he will know that I had someone else, he would kill my parents. I do love him, but how else could I continue to love him with all those threats? I want to love him because I choose to love him, not because I'm afraid of him. What should I do?

I think you are crazy if you stay with him. You had a long distance relationship, you cant really say after a year that you really know him at all. Its really easy to keep things hidden when you dont see each other very often, and now he is threatening to kill your parents, bc he is jealous??? You should be afraid of him, Im not saying it will happen but he could hurt you or your family, no one is worth the risk.

Yeah. I did break up with him already, but there wasn't any formal break up or anything. I will just have to deal with this "hanging ending" of our relationship. Thanks for the advice Ashleigh.
