Mylotters---Question--What is with the stars beside the User Name?

I'm a newbie and a little confused about the star system. Why are they there? What do they represent and why are some blue and others red? I thought they had something to do with the number of discussions and responses. Then I noticed some mylot members have thousands of hits and no star. Others have less and have a star...I'd appreciate it if someone could enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

I think you are supposed to get a star once you have posted 100 times. They are your myLot user rating, where people rate the things you say, either as replies or new discussion posts. I'm not sure what the colors mean though...

Hitting the hundred mark would explain why it popped up when it did...right after my 100th posting. I appreciate your response...helps a lot thanks!
