I read many amazing stories here on mylot that may seem unbelievable and it takes much to believe them but on second thoughts I think I too have many stories which are true but will really make people surprised and suspicious of their validity.
So, do you think that you are believable and do you believe what others tell you?

hi kamran!!Well it depends on their discussions.I too see so many stories .I wonder about their validity and believing or not depends on the person knowledge. Some of them i believe .you know i have strong guessing power and am right in most of guesses.I think am believable to greater extent :P

I am an almost compulsively honest person and have to be careful what I tell people because of it. So, because of that, I tend to give people the benfit of the doubt and to believe them until they give me a reason not to. However, I also have relatively good instincts about what is or is not true, at least in person, so if it gets just a little too far out then I will think twice or more about it.

Hello stealthy!
what reason you think can make you not believe a person and what is a little too far for you? can you explain a little more, so that I may seem believable for you:-)
you are very right that we should give people a benefit of doubt. Thanks for sharing your views here, stealthy, and making your stealthy appearance:-)

Being believable and being true (honest) are two different things altogether.
An articulate articulate person with brains could be believable, but may not necessarily be honest.
As far as mylot is concerned, well, I am here to break the monotony of my day, so why should I judge others? I participate in a discussion that I like on a spur of the moment, respond according to my ability and my mood, and that is the end.
The real world has to be lived in, the cyberworld could be where someone fantasies, or tells the truth or not, should I really care?

Hello tarachand!:-)
I have the same view that being believable and being true are two different things. One skillful lier can make people believe in whatever he/she says and I know many such people.
Generally I don't care, what people say but sometimes when there is something serious, especially emotional or somebody is in problem then I do care whether they are speaking truth or not.
Thanks for sharing:-)

I don't know if people believe me, but I haven't lied on here yet. when writing my topics I don't give up personal info like name or relationship with me, sometimes not even information as to when and where the event occured. I just want to get it out of my chest and maybe get some tips or know that someone else has similar experience.
I think I'm gullible to anyone in the beginning, but one disappointment will turn me into suspicious person, and from that moment on I will choose to believe what my dark side says than anyone else.

Hello LittleMel!:-)
I believe that you don't lie here. It is quite understandable rather recommended not to use personal information here as it may put oneself to some online security issues. We can always keep a story simple with giving details to know others opinions about it.
I also tend to believe others but yes, if someone is abusing my trust then I may become suspicious.

When I write on myLot it never occurs to me to think will people believe me or not! I just write what I want to say and that is that. It also has never occurred to me that others maybe be sitting there thinking should they write a truth or a lie today? For me I live in the moment and what I write is truth or I am inquiring about something? If I were to write fantasy I would let the writers know in advance. I have no time for lies and deceitfulness!

Hello puravm!
You have interesting and quite balanced approach about believing people and being honest about your own stories. It is quite understandable that one would elieve in someone whom he/she has trust in.
Thanks for sharing and welcome to mylot!:-)

Hello asawako48162!
"what would it gain a person for lying?" I too wonder, what use is there lying! you are also true about stretching the truth. many people somehow twist to add taste or crisp in the story. do you think it is right thing to do?
I believe your stories would be true:-) Thanks for sharing your views.
