In the early stage celphones were basically used for making and receiving calls. But nowadays they are so innovative that they could have dozens of other features/functions like messaging, camera, video, media player, organizer, radio ……. and even the latest, internet and tracking.
I prefer the camera, as the cellphone is quite handy to be carried around.
Do you have any interesting stories related?
Can you do without cellphone in daily life?
What are your favorite features/functions of cellphone?

The basic function of cellphone is making and receiving calls convinietly. My first cellphone had been used for 6years before I bought the present one. The first one can only receive and make phonecalls and send massage without camera, video player and games. I prefer simple cellphones.

Hi yannycui, actually the main purpose of having a cell phone is for communication. So a mobile which is equipped with these basic functions will be enough for a user.
Wow! I am quite amazed with your old cell phone which could be used for such a long time of 6 years. I guess you must be caring user of your phone.

The functions I like most are: Messages, phonebook, radio.
But I like radio most because I tune in to local stations to get wheather and traffic updates in the morning before I leave the house so that I know what to wear and what to carry.

Hi kwenge, thanks for to have a drop by in this old discussion and reactivated it.
Yeah, radio broadcast does play an important role to provide latest information about weather and traffic updates at the beginning of the day so we could take necessary preparation. In the meanwhile the radio could also provide news and other amusement.

my favourite function is the camera. i love to take pictures.
i love to bring my cellphone everwhere i go but often misplace it. So there was a time, i was packing litter and i accidently place my cellphone together with it and i dumped it into the rubbish chuck. I had to dig through the dump for my cellphone! Till now, i often had to ring my phone to search for it.

Ya, cell phone had been evolving for few generations and it's still improving and getting better. The only limmiter is the power supply I think. I had read about articles about the new idea of having hologram to display the image of the person who is on the other end of the line. (like what we seen in Star Wars). I think it will no longer be dream in short future. I am a person of old fashion and I usually utilize the basic function of phone ie calls, text messaging and alarm clock only.LoL. I am having an old style phone which my father gave me years back. Although it has no fancy function but it's reliable and fulfill my daily needs, thus I am happy with it.

You are right. Thriftiness is a good virtue and we should spend our money wisely. Especially the inflation is getting worse nowadays due to unfair government policy. My father used to buy many cell phones because it's his interest to learn and experience the new technology in the latest phone. Therefore, whenever I need a phone, I can always borrow an old one from him, when I lost mine or sent it for repair. LoL. Thanks for selecting my response as the best one.

Yeah, cheongyc, a phone which could serve us with basic functions when needed is considered good enough.
It’s wise to be thrifty as to use a serviceable phone instead of an expensive luxurious one.
You are still using the old phone given by your dad and I think he will be quite glad about this as you still appreciate his affordable old cellphone.

I like smartphone running MS mobile, it will allow sync with Outlook calendar, tasks list and contact list. I am using a O2 xphone.
I love it as I only need to carry one gadget around since the O2 xphone has part of the PDA functionality to keep me connected.
