Well, my mom and I were supposed to see Ratatouille over the weekened. Since we did not get to see it, we are going on 4th of July. One of the most popular ways to celebrate the 4th in the USA is to watch the fireworks and have a picnic. We will not be having a picnic. We will be eating out either Indian or Mexican. Do I still feel patriotic? Yes, I do. I may not agree with everything that goes down in this country, but I do appreciate the lives that are risked everyday.

I love to watch fireworks! But the eating out sounds fun. I know you still feel patriotic, apart from the political difficulties your country is facing. Well my friend enjoy the time out with your mother and enjoy the movie! So you can come and tell me all about it!

The restaurant we planned to go to is closed for the holiday. On top of that we have blood work in two days and don't want our cholestral to be high so we are not eating out...bummer.

Thanks for asking my friend.
Today my family will celebrate the holiday with bar-b-que. My hubby is grilling steaks, pork spare ribs, chicken and sausage. My mom is cooking collard greens, homemade cornbread and baked beans. There will be several places around town that will be displaying fireworks. I'll be watching it on TV because it just might rain. Is there a similar holiday in your country?

If you were close by my friend, I would definitely see to it that you were served up a plate. Sorry to hear the new government prevents Independence Day for you. Every country is different. May I ask why the government decided to do away with it?

Te he, ha ha, ho ho! I don't have any plans
until the 4th. Then we'll talk about what to
do. My patriotism is not quite the same as the
rest I'm sure.
I would love to have the ability to save my country
from what I view as an inevitable and destructive fate.
I love what our country was founded upon and all that
it could be but there are to many corrupt people and
corporations to halt our fate.
I am patriotic but not proud to be an American. We
are a nation driven by money not by humanity.
I'll get off my soapbox and leave this response short
considering the 4th is supposed to be a celebration
of the birth of my nation.

Our 4th of July celebration will have a lot to do with whether or not it continues to rain. We had almost 10 inches yesterday and had more today and supposed to have more tomorrow.
We usually have a cookout and also make homemade ice cream and at night time we go watch the fireworks that our city puts on and if not that then we get our own and take them out of the city limits and to a safe place and shoot them off.
My grandson is always here for part of his summer time from school and he loves to do all of those things I mentioned.
Hopefully the rain will stop long enough to see the fireworks.

As I mentioned before I love to watch fireworks, and I'm so glad to hear you guys do it outside of the city limits, here in my country many animals get killed when people shoot them off, because here we are still battling to get the law to be more strict on the irresponsible use of fireworks! sigh! I hope the rain doesn't put a damper on your celebrations, and please send some of that homemade ice cream over!:)

So far the weather don't look good at all for homemade ice cream or fireworks. The only thing lighting up the sky so far has been lightning. We will know by 5:00 pm about the fireworks.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Would love to send you some homemade ice cream if we make some but don't know how to get it to you without it melting. hahahaha You will just have to come join us here.

...well, I'm really late for this discussion! [So busy over summer school break! caring for my granddaughter.. plus all the added activities of summer!] We watched fireworks twice.. actually three times, if I count the small display at our friend's traditional annual party this time of year.. The best display we saw was at a nearby community's park. We also ran into many friends and family there.. At the second display, the moment the first fireworks went off, it started to rain! And it really poured! But the fireworks were saved and the display wnet on two days later which was a friday night. It was at a local tavern and was just a small crowd.
- there are also parades earlier in the day, on the fourth but since our children grew up, we don't usually go to those anymore.. Except perhaps once in awhile with out granddaughter..
- I do still feel patriotic, and actually much more so than I ever have before..
- happy summer, Anniedup!:)
