i have just been partially diagnosed with diabetes. i haven't been to an endocrinologist yet but i was thinking of making changes to my diet. i was thinking of buying sugar free products but my father in law laughed at me. he says it's not true that sugar free products are really sugar free. how else would something taste so sweet if it doesn't have sugar. does anyone here know what is in a sugar free product that still makes it taste sweet?

I'm sorry to hear that.
However, completely eliminating sugar from your diet is really hard. I guess your health can be altered depending on the types of sugars that you absorb.
The sugars that you find in chocolate, candy and other sweet stuff isn't good for you, reason is, because it is broken up into smaller energy fragments, that give a short term energy boost, but do nothing to aid the health of the body.
What you may want to do is eat fruits and vegetable. They have plenty of natural sugar. Sugar, thats good for you and which gives a prolonged release of energy.
Of course its hard to stay away from the sweet taste. But you are just going to have to.
NEVER take any foods that have artificial sweeteners that give that sugary taste in foods and beverages.
"""IT IS FACT, THAT ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS (SUGAR REPLACEMENTS) CAUSE CANCER."""
Make sure that you have a good and balanced diet and drink plenty.
You could probably research the diet you need and talk to your doctor about it.
