Can anyone explain what the iPhone is and how it works?

I went to the store to see if they had this phone available, but the guy said that the phone would be mailed to the ones who bought it; Basically, the iphone is a cell phone, Ipod, email access and other things. check out www.apple.com for more info. Hope it helps.
