How are you spending your 4th of July?

Happy 4th of July. So how are you spending the holiday? I am sitting in front of the computer, trying to catch up with my word count--I am trying to write 50,000 words this month. After that, I am going to go out in the garden and do some work out there. Then this evening, I am going to watch TV or maybe a DVD. Can't do fireworks, my wife can't breathe around the smoke of fireworks. :(

I'm just hanging around the house this afternoon, later my daughter, son-in-law and my baby granddaughter are coming over and we are going to a fair work display in a small community where my stepson lives. It's not as crowded as the big displays that go on at the county courthouse or some other places around. But they do a good job and it's more relaxed and easier to get out of when it's over because there is not as many people. We are taking a cooler and snacks and have a tailgate party before it starts. There are also some craft booths and things set up to keep us occupied before the fireworks. It's a nice and relaxed atmosphere. No way would I go to the big commercial displays - I stopped going to them a few years ago, we would watch 30 minutes of fireworks and then take over an hour to just get though all the traffic. It's not worth it.

Well, we finally live in a state that allows fireworks again. This is the one time of year that we are allowed to be pyros and people actually approve. Heck! I even had to go get a permit from the city to allow me to be a pryo! ha ha I seriously think it is just a way for them to get money. Because the permit doesn't do anything! It did not even come with a safety training class!

Yup! ha ha I guess it is a good thing that I don't do bottle rockets. ha ha I am more of a fountain type of person. That way you can light it and run. ha ha But hey, you know the city had to find a way to get money out of the season somehow. And if we live in city limits...gotta have a permit for anything beyond sparklers. ha ha

So you can get a license to put your eye out with a bottle rocket; gee, there is a tax on everything. *wink*

We have put a couple of bookcases into place. I have made a bit of money today online. Organized some more information, balanced the checkbooks and seen the tractor go by with information about the doings at the fairgrounds for tonights festivities. Being new in town we will quickly find out the best ways to celebrate. Out in the country on our property we would get up on our roof and watch the fireworks. Now that we are in town we might have a front row seat. Wish us luck. Also have the crockpot goings and hubby is enjoying the cable programs that he normally does not get to see. He heads back to work tomorrow. Sunday is the demolition derby day!!!

He is a parts man. Electronic and plumbing. He organizes their shelves of all the pieces and parts. Delivers said pieces and parts. Ships and receives. Does some sales when he mans the front counter for contractors to come in and buy the pieces and parts to build the houses etc. So you see he works full time and this day is the only day off this week. Thanks for asking.

At the moment nothing. I'm bored and in a real blah mood. My husband had to work today. So it is just me and the kids for now. Later my parents are going to come over. We plan on cooking hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill. Then later we are going to try to go see some fireworks, providing it doesn't rain. Which it has been doing all day so far.

Too bad, you can't send some of that rain in my direction. My yard could really use it. I am getting brown patches out there, thanks to how dry it has been here lately.

Hello morgandrake, I am gonna be here in myLot discussing things. The fireworks are at the fairgrounds, I don't care too much for the traffic, so we will be staying home. My wife works today and when she gets home we will probably grill out and listen to the noise of the fireworks and see the lights over the trees. My wife will want to watch a DVD. Peace, Totty

I wish I had a grill. The old one got to the point where it was a pile of rust, and the wife made me haul it to the alley. I am hoping to be able to replace it next summer. *crosses fingers*

Sleeping and putting together a puzzle has taken over most of my day. Now, I'm watching a King of the Hill marathon on TV and I'm here on mylot trying to get my post count higher and higher so I can finally reach 3000 posts. I probably won't do too much more tonight.

We do not celebrate 4th of July. But today was a great day. My nephew turned 6 today and all the grandchildren had a little party at my mom's place today. It rained a little too. My brother and his family arrived from cape town on Saturday and so we had a chance to spend some time with them as well. I took a days leave which my boss so graciously gave to me for the day and it was really great. After that I went to Edgars and got myself a pair of jeans, I got Carl two pairs of trousers and my son got john cenna takkies, john cenna t-shirt and he got the deoderant spray as well. So he was really happy. So that was our 4th of July....
