What do your tattoos mean?

Ray Bradbury wrote a collection of stories called The Illustrated Man. Each story is brings to life each tattoo of the man featured. Some are macabre.
I've noticed that tattoos are more popular these days. I am so tempted to ask someone who's inked what each tattoo represents. But that might be considered rude. So for those of you out there, how many tattoos do you have, and what does each one mean? Do they represent a milestone or person?

I have five tattoos so far. I have an ankh (eternal life) and Eye of Horus (wisdom, knowledge) on the left side of my lower back. I have the Chinese characters for "serenity" (self-explanatory) on the right side of my lower back.
On my chest, I have two Norse runes, "dagaz" and "wunjo." They roughly correspond with the letters of my initials, and they also roughly mean "dawn" and "joy." The first of these is also my name, and the latter is very much my personality--I'm a very happy person the majority of the time.
Only one of my tattoos really marks a major milestone for me. The ankh (my first tattoo) was my 30th birthday present to myself. In a way, it's to remind me that life doesn't end at 30. :)
I have many more tattoos planned, and all of them will have meaning behind them as well. I think picking tattoos that have personal meaning is one of the most important things for me.
