Why do angels always have blonde hair?

Every angel figurine that I see in stores these days has blonde hair. This makes no sense. Considering that most people consider their own personal guardian angel to look similar to them. And, not everyone has blonde hair or is caucasian.
What about people that live in Asia or Africa? Are these people that manufacture angel collectibles trying to tell us that angels are not for everyone? Where's the diversity in angels? And, why would they necessarily be white or have blonde hair? Who's to say that angels don't have the same diversity as the human race.
Would love to hear your view on this.

Angels are very misrepresented, I think they're always blond because Jesus is usually pictured fair like that as well. I don't understand why, since Jesus was a Jew and from the Middle East, I don't see how he could've been fair with long hair and blue eyes. Angels appear to us as humans, they're normal (no silly wings) and are of any race at all. They aren't necessarily always White.
I think they appear to us in a way where we will respond the best. Lets say were in a certain situation were we need help - if we for some reason would respond better to our own race in that particular situation, then they might appear to us as our own race - whatever it may be.

I agree with you. Angels should come in any race, shape, age or form! Angels are for everyone!
I know there is a store in Sweden that sell all kinds of angels, but apart from that you mostly encounter blond, caucasian angels.

I don't even think they look like people with big feathery wings to be honest.
I don't really have a conventionl idea of angels. they are spiritual messengers.
I think rather than a human form they are more likely to be a light, of any colour or even many colours.
why would they look like a human being.

actually, the most beautiful image of an angel I've ever seen was by the artist Patrick Gamble. I was lucky enough to once see the original, and it stopped me in my tracks.
it's a beautiful golden skinned angel with these greeny gold eyes, bald head, slightly pointed ears, no clothes and rather tatty wings.
but he had the most beautiful expression. really knowing and kind.

I have an idea about this. The manufacturer produces the angels and meant it to be for sales. So naturally they would produce the most beautiful looking angels which would attract the most consumers. It maybe has something to do with the cultures on Asian who don't really believe in the existence of Angels like what the Western do. So I think that explains everything.

because the artist who made the angels want us to stop telling blonde jokes! LOL! seriously, the blonde angels are just the artists' perspective. anybody can be an angel blonde or not.

Not all angels are white with blonde hair. Only those in painting done by white painters, usually. There are angels in the Bible (cherubim) that are described as having four faces and four wings, not something we see often in pictures.
I collect angels and have several black ones. Here is on that is white, but has dark hair. (BTW, I am white with blond hair.)

Hmm. Yes, I know what you're talking about. Maybe because being fair and having light hair and light eyes kind of makes them look mild and gentle or something. But where they sell angel figurines here, I've seen a lot of angels with dark hair, although they always are Caucasian... I think I've seen some that aren't, but I'm not completely sure.
They say that real angels don't even look like humans. Well, guardian angels at least. They say that they have 4 heads so they can look at north south east west at the same time. And they're really really really big, about 10 ft. tall, so they can really protect us.

I think that this is LARGELY due to media manipulation! It is true, angels are for everyone and not only for those blonde ones!! It is often a stereotype that angels are white and have wings and a halo on top of their head, holding a huge harp and playing it with their fingers. I guess the fact that they are white is because of the bible as God says "let there be light" so i guess angels represent the "light" which is white. One thing i do not understand, the colours of light spectrum, "red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, blue, purple" mix together to make white!!?? how does that make sense?! Anyways, i think the world is a very mysterious place made by God..... and YES angels should be in all sizes, shape, and clour

I've seen all kinds of pictures of angels with red, brown, black and sometimes even grey or white hair, and of all different ethnicities too. I don't know about the blonde hair tradition, but it's not the only way for an angel to look.

I was wondering about that too. I don't think angels have the same physical appearance like us, since they can change shape into any human being they like. There must also be angels in South America where most people have darker skin and brown hair. I don't mind it, but I agree that there should be other shapes and colors of figurines for angels.

That's something as many English words and usages are established by usage. You couldn't ask your teacher why 'indifferent' means 'have no interest on something' but not 'something and something in differentiation'. I just suppose that the belief of Christ has been first introduced into Europe. Indeed that's the history. When the apostles of Jesus went to preach the gospel, their farest destination which has been written in the Bible is Rome.
You know, in Europe there are only races whose hair is blond or red. And in the early centuries each continent itself was closed. No one know what appearances Jesus and his emissaries have. When artists were asked to paint an angel or the image of Jesus, they have to have something in mind. In arts, if you want to draw something, you must have some concepts, or a picture finished in your mind. At that time artists only have the images of blonds or their national folks. Therefore an angel could only be painted as having blond hair. As regard to Asian people, they waited a long time until the missonaries came to the oriental world. This is my answer.

well, I think it depend on the country I have read the other comment and I found there is Africa they have black angels, about jesus I think it is equal because I have see some part on the world like in my country is show with black hair and green eyes. so I think i depend, anyway I think the angels don't have a human form and they are just pure energy, you know that Satan was an angel and he was called angel of light because he was more lighting that the other angels. I think they got any shape and something they don't have shape. the people imagine they like blond because in the culture it is show like more beautiful so they want to have beautiful angels. once I saw my angel and he was like me but more talk and he had a intense light around him. but I think maybe the angel was the energy and I imagined the human. I don't think it is a big problem about making blonde angels.

I think it's because angels appear most of the times when we are in need. They come to help us in these dark times that's why some people described them as the light sent by GOD to guide and guard us in our way. "To guide" is usually associated with "light" and "to guard" associated with "shiny armors" that's why angels are depicted as a creature in human form that shines and lights us. With this description, what's more identical to "shine and light" human figure than light colored skin and blonde hair?
