I shoud say TRUST, honesty, communication, respect. These are the things on my mind now. Although there are more aspects to be considered for a relationship to work and last long.
We cannot expect to achieve closeness with people unless we are willing to allow others to understand what we are like on the inside and unless others trust us enough to grant the same privilege. If we cannot trust one another in our marriage relationships, we will find ourselves in relationships that are less than satisfactory.
Respect in a relationship means that each person values who the other is and understands - and would never challenge - the other person's boundaries.
You've probably heard lots of stuff about how men and women don't seem to speak the same language. We all know how many different meanings the little phrase "no, nothing's wrong" can have, depending on who's saying it! But what's important is to ask if you're not sure what he or she means, and speak honestly and openly so that the miscommunication is avoided in the first place.
