Do you prefer to have a brother or sister?

Frankly I am only one child in my family. When I was little, I always wanted to have a brother. So that he could protect me. I also liked to be taken care of.

yeah. i don't know how i express my sympathy for u. that's a chinese's sorrow. now so does my son. huh. i have two brothers and a sister. and i think the one who has no brothers or sisters is very lonely. i protest the population regulation in china. so if i have enough money, i absolutely emigrate to other country or region. :)

I think this policy is so ridiculous. As you know, some very poor or rich people can have more children. Nobody cares about it. It's totally unfair. I think such kind of issues should be decided by the couple themselves. Overpopulation is a serious problem, but why not this policy can be flexible. I think two children for a family is perfect. As a matter of fact, our society protectin isn't well and it's not good to have only one child for a family. The burder is just so heavy.

yeah. I agree with u. having two children for a family is perfect.but i don't think i'll count on my children when i am old. i just think tow children can look after each other, and they are growing more happily together.

I can understand your feeling very well. Playing alone wasn't truly happy. I like to play with someone else.

I only had brothers. I always thought I would have liked to have an older sister but I don't know. I would probably have been jealous of her. I was kind of jealous of my older brother so I think it would have been worse with a sister.

It seems sisters are likely to have a negative remark.

I am the eldest in my family having one bro and one sis but when i was a kid that selfishness are beginning in me,watching that my parents are taking care of my brother and sister and loving them more than me made me the same. but now i am much grown up to know the reasons why parents love the little ones although the eldest are very important to them. Now i wished to have a big brother who should have helped me in everything like studying,to take to places etc...

If my parents would have one more child, perhaps my situation would be like yours:)

I am happy to say I have a twin sister and three brothers, one younger and two older. We are very close in age ie 38,37,36,36,35. My son is an only child and we are trying for another so that he does not grow up alone. We will keep trying LOL

When I was younger I always wanted a sister. I have an older brother, but I felt it just wasn't the same and I wanted to have a girl around...so if I were still a youngin, I would say I prefer a sister. But now that I'm older, my brother and I just get along so great. We always have, but I appreciate that so much more now - especially when I see my cousins or friends who barely if at all speak to their siblings. I wouldn't change our relationship for anyone else's, not even for the sister I've always wanted. The dynamic or our relationship would've surely been wayyy different had I had a sister. I'm very grateful that it's just us two.

Thanks for your response. When people grow up, the siblings relationship will become better.

I like both, but I have to choose I would like a brother because a brother will usually pamper his sister. I like being pampered :) . Actually I have three brothers and one of them is close to me. We often talk about almost everything and he likes pampering me.

i have often wished that i had younger siblings - that way i can move out of home and become independant so my mother wouldn't be lonely. I would probably prefer to have a younger brother than a sister because i wouldn't have to worry about many things that fathers worry about their daughters. but then again the same would be true if i had a sister instead of a brother. i definitely would not want to have more than one sibling - that would just be too much to handle for our whole family. Even if i had one sibling i guess i would have to trade privacy for independence. No matter what, there will always be good and bad things.

But it's the same when your siblings grow up and they can leave home to be independent. You'd better go to visit your parents after you move out.

i would love 10 brothers in stead of 2 sisters
