I guess it must be an anxious moment to all. There will a lot of curiousity about how many responses you'll get and how people react to your discussion. There'll be a lot of questions and confusions in one's mind.
Share your experience of first discussion. Were you nervous or confident or placcid?
I'm a bit nervous as of now because i have absolutely no idea of what kind of discussions mylotters like.

i got mixed emotions when i started with my first posted discussion. i was introducing myself as a newbie and i was sort of a shy and aloof individual. i was thinking that other members of this community would have not replied to my post because it was just a plain introductory topic. but i was mistaken, several members responded and welcomed me to mylot and encouraged me to participate more in the discussions. i was extremely happy and excited that i replied to them immediately thanking them for accepting me in this circle of friends of different race, culture, beliefs and age and gender. and as the days went by, i had gained more friends and added them to my list. it was full of excitement, anxiety, curiosity and fear of rejection that i felt during the first day of mylotting.

Welcome to mylot I_LUV_U. I think everyone goes through that and even today many of us start discussions and we don't know how it will go, if anyone will comment or like the discussion you started. Don't worry, all you can do is start them and see where it goes. There are so many people in this forum that I am sure someone will relate and comment. Enjoy your time here, it is a good discussion board with some really nice people.

Hi there. When I first joined up at mylot, I read up on everything and familiarised myself with the do's and donts of this site, then I went and read some discussions and blogs, to get the hang of how I should be posting and I came across alot posts that were 1-2 liners, and then I thought, well Im going to make my posts, worth while reading and try to make them of quality, as well as quantity... And so far, I think Im doing alright... As for being nervous NO WAY, it did'nt exsist with me LOL... And if it did, I wouldnt be able to type, because I would've chewed my finger nails to bits, which wasnt the case when I started lol...

Dear I_LUV_U
Well you know what .. when you first sent me request for adding I simply denied it .. there were some reasons for that .. firstly your id -- says I luv u .. secondly .. you were of 0 post .. after seeing your replies in my discussion and the way you write made me think that you are not a new mylotter .. the way you write .. the way you are doing things here .. I am very much sure that you are an old mylotter .. may be you wish to hide your identity and I truely respect that .. but I am sure you are an old mylotter .. and when you sent me request again after reaching 37 posts .. I accepted it. Well ok coming to your discussion subject now -- I was not at all nervous when I started discussion here .. infact I really didn't knew that I will get some responses to it .. but surprisingly I got responses and warm welcome from mylot community members. Ok whether you are an old mylotter or a new one .. do enjoy your stay here :) and happy mylotting :)

This is somehing unusual here in your reply.
I sent some friend requests initially but nobody accepted me, then i started a discussion seeking friendship and became quite successful. Unfortunately the discussion got deleted.
I'm an aspiring writer but still have a long way to go, its my passion, may be that's the reason why you felt me as an old mylotter. I'm young and new here.
But why on earth were you so disturbed by my username, its really kiddish that you rejected me because of my username also. I don't think its right to judge people by their usernames.
I wish to hide my identity!!??....lol.....even you are doing it. Is your real name "Touchnshine"??
"The way you are doing things here"......what are trying to say exactly?
Are you joking by any chance??....i'm too exhausted today to understand it.
DISCUSSION PART:
Yes, i'm enjoying mylot and my stay here. It must be a pleasant experience when you got a warm welcome and responses for your debut discussion though it was unexpected. Happy Mylotting to you too.

Wish you all the best here .. and hey .. I have started liking your id now :) .. oh yes .. my id do not represent my name obviously .. my good name is Preeti what's yours :)

Ok, now its clear to me. You are not like me, you are choosy in adding new friends, i straight away add everyone i see around here in myLot. So, i can't blame you for denying my request.
Hey, i don't have great writing skills. I'm still learning the ABCD of professional writing. Don't expect wonderful writings from me, you'll be dissappointed.
I don't believe that you've started to like my ID which has just one post, may be you're talking w.r.t the person in my pic.
You've a very sweet name.
You can call me Maddy.
Thanks for talking time on my discussion.

Hi,I_LUV_U!
Yes,I did feel nervous when I started my first discussion.I took care about my words, sentences and grammers, because my native language is not English so that I was afraid that my poor English would take misunderstanding to other Mylotters.:P

I was not nervous, but I was more anxious in knowing what will be the response to my discussion. Everyone stumbles in the beginning, and they learn after few posts and staying in Mylot forum will teach you a lot of tips and tricks.

I wasn't really nervous. It's not like you'll ever meet these people in person, so you shouldn't care if their opinions differ from yours. Just try not to offend anyone and people will be nicer when commenting on your postings. So far, I love mylot and all the people on it.

It wasn't that I was nervous, it was trying to find a topic to discuss. I started off, I think, if I can remember a topic on children. That got me started. I don't post as much as I respond though!

hi i_luv_u, my newest friend. no i wan't nervous. i simply asked what i wanted to know about - i am even forgetting now what was my first question. i just feel that its the succeding ones that has the more pressure, because you're still catching up on what issues do myLotters attract to enough for them to make responses. and it can get diaappointing to see how your questions can also get zero response without understanding why. somehow, i'm getting the idea that there's a popularity aspect going around discussions where the 'popular ones get the more responses. maybe i'm wrong in this, just a feeling. si i learned to relax a bit and not to be affected anymore, thinking that i'm here to pass the time or do some fun comminicating. if you get a best response mark, or an additional cent to your pay, they're just bonus. good luck. we're really not far away from each other yet. i'm kinda lazy. :) smiles.

You don't have to worry about anything, just express your ideas about discussions started by others and start discussions on topics you like. The mylot community is so big that you always find someone who thinks the same way as you do - so just be yourself - but please don't post any offensive stuff or four lettered words. Welcome and happy posting.

Naww, I wasn't nervous. What's there to be nervous about. MyLotters are people just like you or me and besides it's not as if they actually know who you are. For all some people know you can be a computer programmed to have socially pleasant conversations with other individuals on mylot (well not really but do you get my point?)
