Windows or Mac?

For a long time and really since the invention of the PC, Microsoft has led and dominated the personally computer industry. However, in recent times, apple has taken huge chunks of the market share through innovative designs, and creative marketing. Everyone now sees Macs as the fun and probably safe alternative for windows.
So that being said, my question is which system do you prefer? I personally acknowledge the benefits of a Mac but I seem to be too used to Windows to make the switch. And I can't get over the mouse.
Let me know your thoughts.

My Windows PC never crashes, either. You just have to know how to take care of your computer, especially when using the OS with the most options in software and hardware. The whole deal about Macs being more stable is a myth; their universe is just smaller and easier to "synchronize."

This is a good question. However, did you mean PC or Mac or perhaps Mac OS or Windows? Windows or Mac is comparing apples and oranges. Mac is a machine and Windows is an operating system.
Apple lost me when they stopped developing and supporting the Apple II. Now they do seem to keep the Apple name alive with ieverything and ieveryone seems to be buying. More power to them. Recent changes were a very big boon for Intel.
The mouse was invented by Xerox. I prefer a thumb operated trackball. I hate having to pick up the mouse and move it back to the center all the time but I don't have to do that with my trackball.

Apple scares me with their iEverything. They are probably going to take over all technology as we know it! That aside, I am a windows man just because I grew up with it. Give it 20 years and everyone will have a Mac. They just seem so much better and also very well though out (design and features)

Dont worry about the mouse, you can plug in an ordinary mouse and it will work the same, including the scroll wheel.
Macs may seem pricey at first, but if you weigh out the costs it works out an healthy investment. The amount of time you save just by using a mac is incredible.
Plus vista has been a flop and the owner of Dell did say that if he had his way, every single Dell computer would be shipped with the Mac operating system. Thats enough said.
And by the way Bill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world, he was beaten by a Brazillian.
Best time to make the switch don't you think?

I am trying to save for a Mac. I heard it is quite good and does not have the problems or the threats that Windows gets. I am a creative type person, interested in music, writing, and art rather than the business side. Also I am not into games. I hate it taking too long to figure how to upload photos. Now I already have a Windows and the reason I got the Windows PC was at that time Macs were used exclusively in schools and I figured it was for pupils to draw designs and make pretty pictures. However now that Mac has Intel, it is no longer just a school computer, but something that deserves our respect.

I work in the graphic design field and definitely the Mac is the way to go. It just runs all the programs so smoothly. And it is very user friendly. At this time I have two computers. One is Mac and the other is a PC. I do have to use the PC for certain programs, but I definitely prefer the Mac.

I really like Macs, esp since they now run microsoft office applications. They are less prone to viruses which is a huge plus. I also like how they work. There is a dock at the bottom and you can move to mouse to see all open applications and windows. We have a Mac laptop. I want to get a Mac desktop next.

I personally like Windows. It is a lot better for my needs. I like to play games, and stuff like that on my computer. Mac does not work well for games. If you like to play games on your computer or labtop, then use Windows. If you like to use your computer or labtop for work (school work exc.), then use Mac.

well,im sticking with windows xp till now...when compared to the previous versions of windows it has a far better graphical appeal and performance...its the mostly used OS and main advantage is,windows is taught everywhere and its easy to learn,moreover.....
the main disadvantage is that it easily get affected by the viruses(because most of the viruses are made in the way to attack windows OS)...
Coming to mac,it has a very very good graphic appeal than xp(but not vista)..the main disadvantage is that it will not easily get affected by the virus...and then the disadvantage is that its not easy to ger practiced with mac,for the windows users....
Personally,im amazed why didn't you ask windows or mac or linux...because linux too can be learnt very easily.....
Goodday,
Sri

I use windows at home and mac at work and for the most part, they are a push. Mac is better when it comes to things like publishing photos and making movies, but the microsoft products are better for word processing and speadsheets and such. As another poster mentioned, windows is also better for games. From a personal standpoint, I hate those I'm a Mac and I'm a PC commercials because their not accurate. I talk to our tech guy all the time and he has had plenty of trouble upkeeping the macs. I'm sure if we had all window machines he would have the same problems, it's just that macs aren't the perfect computers that they claim to be.

I've been a geek half of my life, so I've tried a lot of operating systems out there. Recently I decided to buy a laptop and it happened to be a MacBook in the end. Never used a Mac ever before I got it and I'm blown away since.
There really is no reason for not getting a Mac today. They're good looking, easy to use, nice peripherals (like the remote) and they can run Windows too. If you choose to run OSX (Apple's operating system) though, you won't run that many games (yet, but EA made some announcements recently and World of Warcraft runs fine).
Before making the switch I watched many videos about the Mac and OS X. You can find some promotional here:
