I had a lvl 60 human rogue and most of the time i used dual wield and both slots were daggers. Sometimes i use 2 swords but most of the time daggers. Make sure you get throwing knife's for easier farming. Avoid Mobs cause you are weak but deadly. For the talents probably u should max out ur combat talents such as sinister strike mana cost and stuff. Remember to buy lockpick and some powder if you wanna make a quick escape or pick locks. Learn poison stuff from the trainers and use them on ur weapons. That should help you until level 60 but further than that you have to find out for urself, cheers m8

You have several options available to you, but before I enlighten you, please understand that I take the "no play style and/or talent tree strategy is objectively better than any other" stance.
Moving on: you need to decide what weapons you want to use. The choices are swords, fist weapons, and/or daggers. In some instances, you can use combinations of these weapon-types (e.g. a sword in the main hand and a dagger in the offhand). I'm only going to discuss one of these possibilities, in the interest of space.
My personal experience tends to favor using swords. I simply like the play style that goes along with swords. I like to be up in my opponent's face, producing many instant strikes that are very cheap in terms of energy. Also, I really enjoy doing sustainable damage over an extended period of time. I'd much rather have consistency in my damage than huge spikes. If this sounds interesting to you, then you should consider a combat swords build.
A combat swords build is generally a 20-41-0 build (20 points in the assassination tree, 41 points in the combat tree, and 0 points in the subtlety tree). You can play around with the specifics but its vital to have sword specialization, precision, and improved slice and dice.
With regard to stats that you want to focus on, you need to get a lot of +to hit gear. Thereafter, focus on attack power, agility, and stamina (although not necessarily in that order). But let me repeat this, having a high hit rating is very important for combat swords because a large percentage of its overall damage output is WHITE damage.
White damage is simply auto-attack damage. Now, remember that dual-wielding comes at a price: your white attacks suffer a -24% chance to hit. You need a lot of hit to offset that so you can start taking advantage of sword specialization (increases your chance to gain an extra attack with a sword attack).
Lastly, ALWAYS make sure to have slice and dice up. Increasing your attack speed increases the number of white attacks you do in a particular amount of time, thereby taking more advantage of your +to hit gear and your decent attack power.
