I was wondering if there is any kind of home remedy for headaches? I get headaches a lot at least 2 or 3 times a week. And I really dont like to take medication for it. So I was just wondering if anyone knows or any other way to help get rid of a headache? I really cant just lay down and rest I have 4 kids to chase around all day so that is out of the question. So any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi i had made a discussion similar to this a few weeks back because of my headaches.I got some great tips. Some said drink plenty of water or drink gatorade. That same day i got someone to bring me some gatorade to the house and i drank some and then layed down.My headache went away and i felt like a brand new person.Gatorade actually helps. My doctor told me it was tension.i changed my diet up to and stop eating so much fried foods and have been exercising since the discussion.I feel so much better. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1101321.aspx
that is the discussion.Take care and i hope you find a remedy.

With 4 kids to chase all day, I take it you are getting stress headaches..am I right? If so, best way to beat it is doing something relaxing if possible. I used to get stress headaches almost on a daily basis but when a friend asked if I wanted to join her on her nightly walk, I did. Guess what? The headache that was pounding away all day disappeared during the walk. She walks 2 miles every nite and now so do I. As a result I very seldom have headaches. It's my way of destressing b4 I go to bed at nite so I don't wake up with the day b4's stress still eating at me. Not to mention I'm also slowly losing the weight I've been packing around for years so with me, walking is 2fold. Try walking like I do at nite if it's at all possible. Other than that, you might want to talk to your doctor about them.

Stress headaches suck big time....what about trying 10 mins of gentle yoga when you get up in the morning and before laying down for the night or 10 mins of meditation, quiet thought etc..Mind you with 4 kids you may have to get up a few minutes earlier than usual if you all normally wake up at the same time....Also what are your sleeping habits like..if you are suffering from stress related headaches then its also very possible you arent sleeping well which of course will add to the problem

Stress headaches never thought of that. I bet thats what they are too. I wish I could do the walking thing at night hubby does not get home until 11pm some night later. Im sure I will find another way to de-stress myself before bed.

I'm very prone to headaches (and migraines as well) and my son is also one to get frequent headaches too..first i'm wondering when you last had an eye exam..I knwo my headaches got considerably worse before I finally broke down and went to the eye doc and found out I needed glasses...That being said...for us what works is using peppermint essential oils in a defuser...In fact it works so well, when my son gets headaches he'll ask me to do that before even thinkin about asking for an asprin....also what works for me is colour therapy...generally pale blue candles, light bulbs etc does wonders but that doesnt work for my son...Or if you have 10 mins you could sit back comfortably with a cold compress across your eyes (temple to temple)..that works sometimes too for me and the boy...

I dont like taking medicine either. I suggest lay down and put a cold wash rag on your forehead for awhile. Always make sure its a cold rag then put it on the back of your neck. This tends to help me out. Try it and I hope it does something for you.

Whenever I have headaches, I rub some Axe Brand Universal Oil on my forehead, then lie down and take a little rest. The oil is colourless and gives a slight burning sensation. It is quite effective for relieving headaches. I will normally be ok after a while. If the headache is more severe, I will apply more oil on the forehead.

Do you drink coffee? I have heard both that coffee has pain killing properties, especially for headaches, Tylenol Ultra actually has caffine in it, that's what makes it Ultra. Also if you do drink coffee on a regular basis and then you stop or you just don't get it everyday or by the right time that can cause a headache. Maybe try having a cup of coffee next time you feel a headache coming on and see if it helps at all.

I was also advised to drink coffee by a doctor friend
and it works.
As for your statement that if you stop drinking coffee
you get a headache if you are a regular drinker, I think
it depends upon the person. If you are addicted to it,
then probably you will. :)

There is a club in USA which is known as One thousand headache club. There are innumberable reasons for getting headache. Due to problems in eyes, due to indegestion, due to stress and strain, due to eating of bad bood, due to excessive work in sunlight like wise.First and foremost thing is to drink 2 litres of water everyday to keep the headache. And have a check up on eyesight. Do not keep worrying and do not invite Mr. Tension. When you really get a headache, take a big piece of cloth, wet it and tie it to head and take a nap. Within hours it disappears.

i always put a bag of ice on my head and the head aches will disappear. drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fruits.
dont stress your eyes to much but if you cant do that wear something for your eyes that will make sure it wont hurt your eyes. sometimes the cause of head aches are stressed eyes.

I find the best thing for headaches is to drink some water and take ten minutes to lie down in a quiet room with an ice pack on my head.
There is also something called "Forehead". It is like a roll on deodarant but you roll it onto your head. It smells really nice and works well when you dont have an ice pack to hand. It comes in a small bottle and you can keep it in your handbag.
Hope this helps - we all know how rotten headaches can be

4 children running around the house- and they are probably really quiet aren’t they? Lol—that is reason enough for headaches- I have nothing for you- I do lay down in the dark- quiet room to relieve pressure from my head- Also I have put a cold washcloth on my fore head- usually takes pain away- Or I take an Advil.

Headache's are usually caused by stress, and nearly all of them begin from the back of the cranium. Getting a good massage to relieve the stress in you shoulders and back could work... and a foot massage (reflexology) will almost certainly give you a little relief.. I suffer from headaches about 10 times a day (and I think I need an MRI scan because I believe there is something in my head that's nasty) and I know that relaxation can often release some of that pressure in your brain..
Good luck.. headaches are terrible... I have sympathy and empathy for you...
Love and light.

Why not try aromatherapy? You just light the diffuser and let the aroma of the essential oil permeate the room. Its very soothing and relaxing. It can stimulate the mind and calm the nerves.
