When I was a kid they made us read the Velveteen Rabbit in school. And, I thought it was so sad, that I could barely read to the end. I think I skimmed the last ten pages. I don't remember much about the book now, except that it's about love and loss and redemption, and finding someone that you once loved. From the point of view of a stuffed toy. Or, at least that's the way I remember it. What about you? What's the saddest book you ever read as a child? Would you read that book to your child now?

If you really think about it a lot of stories for children are really sad. Mostly they have morals or something deep and meaningful that you don't really get as a kid but you don't usually realize how sad the story really was either. Off the top of my head, I think the saddest thing I can remember as a kid was Bambi. As a matter of fact to this day when I watch the movie it still makes me sad!
