You can drink any milk you choose when pregnant. When I was pregnant, that's what I did. I don't like the taste of soy milk, so I just drink regular milk. Remember to always take your prenatal vitamins. You could also drink "Ensure for Moms" as a supplement to your prenatal vitamin. Ensure for Moms is for pregnant and lactating women. I don't remember what aisle it's located in the grocery store though. Also, remember not to eat any kind of fish. If they say certain types of fish can be eaten, I would just avoid it, to be safe. I didn't eat fish when I was preggars. Now I have a healthy and active 3 year old boy :-)

I would go with your intuition but for me, I would just avoid it to be safe. In some fishes, there can be mercury (which can be dangerous) in it, but you don't know which fish has mercury, that's why I would just avoid eating fish during pregnancy in general, so I don't have to worry about it. Even if the doctors says it's ok to eat fish, sometimes they don't know. There's not enough studies about pregnancy and fish. Plus, doctors are not always right. I'm not telling you what to do or to eat, I just do what's right for me and what I'm comfortable with.

Let me give you the inside scoop! ALL milk comes from cows..ignore the add that says that "good" cheese comes from Califormian cows (and therefore buy there brand). Find a brand that tastes good and you can afford. I am allergic to milk and so I have actually started using Rice Milk and Soy milk, they are both good. Since you have never drunk milk, (despite what any doc will tell you) you don't really need to start just becasue you just got pregnant. Actually there are some greens (turnimp greens, collard greens) that provide much more calcium than milk. Milk also has phosporus which actually DEPLETS your calcium...then they tell you to drink more milk if you get osteoporosis! (guess who makes the money).

hehe,i also never believe that milk will prevent osteoporosis.i believe there are some other ways to get calcium.it just for pregnancy many people convince me that drink milk will bring benefit more to the baby.so i'll do anything to this baby. thanks for the comment!

Drink fresh whole milk. That is sufficient. I didi not take any milk as I had vomiting till the 5th month. My baby had normal birth weight and is healthy.

If you don't like milk you can always subtitute it with soy milk. I am like you too, I don't like milk at all. But the reason is because I am not tolerant to milk and I can't digest it properly and will get stomachache whenever I drink milk. But I need to drink milk for my health, so my doctor suggested me to drink soy milk. Now I am using this brand, Melilea Soy Drink and it is cheap too. Until now I drink it everyday and my skin and bone is healthy as new. If you want to buy it, you can go online. Here is the url http://traditionalherbs.blogspot.com and find for the content under Melilea Organic. Hope this helps.

When I was pregnant, I either drank fresh milk or milk powder specially formulated for pregnant women. At other times, I also took soy milk. Drinking milk is not a problem for and I would prefer to drink lots of it rather than take calcium pills.

Any milk is good for you, but you don't have to drink it as much as you think you do, especially if you don't like it. Don't forget to take your prenatal vitamins, and make sure they have a good percentage of calcium. Avoid caffinated foods and beverages. I've never been pregnant, but I had to watch my sister all the time with her last 2 pregnancies. She was good at eating what was good for her, but she'd try to sneak and drink Pepsis or coffee. I understand about the coffee thing though; I can't go without it in the morning *caffiene freak*. Anyway, congratulations on your pregnancy! Eat your leafies and other vitamin/mineral-enriched foods. I assume you already eat well, so your baby will be fine. :)

Pure cow milk is good. It is light and easy to digest too. Branded milk is not good.

A pregnant woman's first nutritional needs are to take care of maintaining and repairing her body. Then we add the additional needs of a growing fetus. A fetus is developing muscle, lean tissue, bones and blood. The biggest nutritional needs are for added protein, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, folacin, vitamin B6 and zinc. The amount of calories needed to supply these additional nutrients is not that much. A pregnant woman needs an extra 300 calories which could be achieved by eating three ounces of meat and drinking an extra eight ounce glass of milk. The additional vitamin and minerals could be reached by eating dark green leafy vegetables, whole cereal grains and fruits, especially citrus fruits that are excellent sources of vitamin C and folacin. Its up to you dear. Choose the best you can drink and have a nice pregnancy period!

I agree with the doctor that just about any brand is good, but if you want to stay as natural as possible, then try to buy organic milk. This milk comes from cows who have not been fed any hormones and I would try to stay away from any food that has been enhanced in any way. Eat organic whenever possible. Also, drink milk that has some fat in it as growing babies need fat to help develop healthy brains. Congratulations on your pregnancy and here's hoping that you have a healthy, happy baby.

Hey congratulations! I just found out I'm pregnant too...again! Anyway, I don't drink milk at all. My OBGYN told me to take calcium pills and my first child was perfectly healthy! Ask your doctor about it, you may not have to drink milk! But if you insist, you can drink any kind of milk you like. I'd go for soy myself, but it's up to your preference! :) Congrats again!
