why have women's blouses the buttons on the left?

Because traditionally men have dressed themselves while women have had servants dress them. It's much easier to button from left to right if you're dressing someone. The tradition just carried on, most likely to differentiate women's clothing from men's.

I didn't noticed that until this day. Thank you for the information. It's an added knowledge on my part.(",) Good thing I'm wearing a blouse with buttons on it and it's indeed true that women's buttons are on the left side.(",)
