I don't know the old looks of the Transformers. But I loved how they looked in this movie. Something about the way they looked gave them huge personalities. I especially liked Bumblebee's eyes! They always had me transfixed.

in the cartoon, megatron has always a black bazooka (i think) in his back right? but he still transforms as a car and the bazooka is still there as a weapon.

all along i thought all autobots and decepticons transformed into vehicles (in air or in land). now i remember when megatron transforms... yeah, i think it was not a car... was megatron's bazooka in his arm in the movie??? i didnt notice.

This was one of my many problems with the movie (see my topic for more of why I didn't like it much).
The only one that really looked close to his true form was Prime. No one else really looked right.
It is possible to make them look 'machinelike,' and still look like their original selves. Just look to the Transformers, Generation 2 comics. The biggest change was that Megatron was green, and looked kinda like a tank, but the rest followed fairly close to their true form. If they just used that as a storyboard, they can transfer that to the 'big screen.'

Reread what I said. Prime looked *close!* NOT exact. I's aware of some minor changes, such as the flames to his trailer. You look at all of them, as I said, and Prime looks closest to his true form, even though there are differences. No one else; well perhaps the helicopter Decipticon, but I'm not sure who he's supposed to be. "Scorpinox," I guess was close in scorpion form, but when they have him to be 'dissected,' he looks a lot smaller. He, Fortress Maximus (and the other giant transformers) are on a scale where the average transformer may only come up to their leg, which means the Scorp should probably take up a couple of plane hangers.

Well, i like your question but I have not seen the movie yet. I am going to watch it and see the changes if it would be worth it. Its always the original look that matters to me but I will check and see.

Megatron did look a LOT different than he did in the cartoon. As for the other characters, though, I liked how they updated them for the present day, rather than keeping them in their old forms. I was a little bit sad that Bumblebee wasn't a VW bug anymore, but I suspect that if they had made him a VW bug, it would have been a new one, not the classic kind. :)
The one that confused me, though, was the little tiny Decepticon that bounced around everywhere. I really didn't remember him from the cartoon!
