How do you interpret numbers in dreams?

I like to interpret my dreams and help other people with theirs. But I have a lot of trouble understanding what numbers represent. I've seen some websites that use numerology to interpret numbers in dreams, but these don't seem to click with the overall meaning of the dream. There's also standard interpretations like four=wholeness, that are too simplistic and don't seem to fit with my dreams either. In the dreams I have, I get numbers like a paycheck for $487 or a book that costs $1.39. Does anyone have any good advice on interpreting numbers in dreams or know of any good websites that do? Thanks!

When numbers come up in my dreams I add it down then interpret it....for example if you dream of a paycheck for $487 would add down to 1..the number 1 is the number of beginnings, fresh starts, courage, independance, self esteem and so on.....Now dreaming of money/paycheck/getting paid etc is ALSO symbolic of self esteem so I would look at the rest of the dream and see where else it comes up and so on.... in the other example you gave...$1.39 breaks down to 4 which is the number of hard work, caution, stability, trust, honesty and so on...and of course a book in a dream symbolized knowledge, intelligence, but also peace/calm and working towards personal goals etc...so again I would look at the dream and see where else that shows up. Numbers arent really hard to interpret at all but dreams on the other hand can get tricky...Maybe its not the numbers that are stumping you..it could be that you are missing something in the dream when you are interpreting it...Which brings me to a question..... When you interpret your dreams what exactly are you interpreting...is it just the dream overall or are you breaking it down and interpreting the finer details as well?

Oops, I just realized I never replied to this! Thanks for your response. To answer your question, when I interpret dreams, I look at the dream as a whole and also at the finer details. In working with dreams over the years, I've come to see them as very much like poems. They're metaphors for what's going on inside us and in our life, only from a deeper point of view. I can tell when a dream is well interpreted by the a-ha of recognition and understanding that I get. I suddenly see my life in a new way and this often leads to changing my behavior. I tend not to trust any kind of interpretation that doesn't give me (or the person I'm working with) this kind of insight. So what usually happens when numbers are involved is that the entire dream will end up eluding me or I'll get the overall idea of the dream, but the number details will still be a mystery, making me feel like I'm missing something important. I still haven't found anything that really helps with this. Maybe I'm just resistant to numbers because I hated math so much in school! ;-)

we all dream every night. dreams are our subconscious mind telling us things about ourselves we fail to see in waking life. we only remmemmber some of the dreams we have. it is a good idea to keep a dream journal and record the dreams you have. try to interpret them, they may bring you to understand and discover things about yourself you may have failed to realize
