Is there any standard for Web designing

We have come across so many websites daily, each different from others, some are easy to navigate and some are jazzy and some are plain. But is there any standard for designing professional websites? Like colors, layout, text or design for different genres of the websites? Please help in this regard!

Not realy, its pretty much what you like. I am a member of the Pixel Graphics Community and all of our sites have similarities (mostly the type of graphics) but we all creat our sites to our liking and taste.
