Chinese people always in a hurry

People would normally say New Yorkers are always in a hurry, and sometimes they are even too busy to say sorry when run into each other. But, ever been to China recently?
In my memory, i remembered Beijing people liked to live a leisure life. They normally walked with a slow pace. If they saw their bus coming, they wouldn't run to catch it. Instead, they would rather wait for the next bus to come. By contrast, Shanghai people seemed always to be running. If one happened to stop by a bus stop for a while in Shanghai, one would notice that many people rushed to catch the bus as if they feared there would be no more buses. Things have changed now. This will have no choice but stay in my memory now.
Today, some Beijingers, who once saw the film Those Sunny Days, might still remember the hero of the film, Ma Xiaojun, who was always seen riding a bike with his heels in a pair of cloth shoes strolling idly among the Hutong alleys in Beijing. These people might sigh that sch typical life of Beijingers, as described by the film, has gone forever.
Nowadays, people pursue efficiency. Everything is done with a fast speed.
Now, I cannot stop myself from wondering: are we all really in a hurry all the time, or it is just that we are rushing to get away as far as possible from our past?

that's true. in most developing countries everyone is always in a hurry. sometimes we just need to clear our mind and not do anything and not think of anything for say 30 minutes. that will help us to regain a sense of peace.
there can be a lot of rushing around without thinking. and a lot of work done without knowing why we are doing what we are doing.
I don't think that we are we are rushing to get away as far as possible from our past, what is there to get away from? poverty? perhaps.

totally! people strive for a better living and higher social status mostly with longer working hours and ameliorating self knowledge, skills, competency and ability in order to gain sufficient strength to survive in this delirious world. yes developing countries seem to be busier in life style whereas most of the developed nations are just like the same. i accustomed to stay in vancouver and honshu, the life style is no less berserk as the nations like china. as a whole, everybody are the same,no matter where you at, we all long to be richer and filled

while, in some cities of china, its step is faster actually. And even chinese are ofen complain about it. society are running, city are running, so people who lived in this city and this sociery are have to running, too. but not all people's live are in a hurry, someone also know "busy in loafs".

the fact is the large nations like china or elsewhere are facing to too much compititions and rivals. there is no trajectory to wriggle out of such limbo unless you develop far ahead of the rests and bring them down to their knees so nobody would agress your sovereignty as the way america put iraq through!

Is it you meaning that the victor is the king and the defeated is an invader?
I know one country which want to have the right to speak, he must have enough strength. But following the development of society, if having strengh is the only way to speak for a country?

at any rate it is the only way to let its countrymen to live in a better life and sufficient strength to put up a good fight when the time comes agressively. agression is not the only trajectory to solve matters but when it comes to politics, the better and more you have the better and more you may protect
