My back prolems - surgery no 2 to come?

Well folks I just wanted to let my friends know what was happening instead of everyone having to ask me individually!
As most of my friends know I had back surgery a couple of months ago and was so excited as I had been waiting for it so long and really hoped it would fix out my pain and mobility problems! I seemed to be making progress, very slowly but progress nonetheless. That was until I was on holiday last week - The pain had been getting worse for days but I didn't want to ruin anyones holiday so I put a brave face on and tried to just rest until the wednesday night when I was stuck in one position for 3 hours and couldn't move - when my other half tried to move me it was agonisingly painful and he had to give up! Anyway the long and short is we had to get the dr out that night and again the next morning and I ended up on very strong painkillers again!
I went to see my consultant again today and on the way the pain of sitting in the car made me really sick, we were in roadworks and had nothing for me to be sick in - enough to say we had to stop at a nearby shopping mall and buy me a new pair of trousers! I now have to wait for yet another mri scan and the minimal risk of having to have another surgery has risen further! I may have to wait quite a few weeks for the scan and then wait to see what the consultant says so til then I have to rest a lot! Not total bed rest but not much more! The good news is that means I can spend a bit more time online speaking to all my wonderful friends! I am not looking for sympathy here - there are many people a lot worse off than me - I just wanted to let you know what is happening and that the pain will not rule my life! xx

I´m so sorry to hear you´re going through so much pain again, my dear friend.
I´ve been thinking about you a lot and how you´re holidays might be going. I haven´t been here for a while, the first mail I saw in my inbox was yours and I felt the urge to respond straight away. You are such a strong woman, I don´t know if I would have been capable to put a brave face on inspite of the agony. It´s truly admirable and you deserve all the sympathy you can get. I hope you´re not going to have to wait too long for the scan.
You´ve certainly got a very positive attitude. Even scientists openly admit now that this is extremely important or even decisive to help patients to recover.
Thanks for the update on your health.
My thoughts are with you.
A big hug for a tough woman.

I´ve missed you too, dearest. Haven´t been here because of some minor problems, nothing to worry about.
A positive outlook is important, I agree with you there. It can only help and your strength is an additional advantage :-)).
And there are lots of positive vibes being sent your way...

Oh, Mummymo, I feel so bad for you! I know what chronic pain is like (I have a knee disease). Having family there to help you out and make you feel better is the best medicine and it seems that you have that part covered. Keep that fighting spirit and you will be well again soon.

My partner and 2 kids really do keep me going and help me so much - without them I think I might be in a different place mentally - I do thank God for them every day! Thanks again for the support honey , that helps me stay strong too! xxx

I know you are Angel - will you phone again if it comes to it? lol You know that meant a lot to me and really made my day - the nurse came in just after and asked why I was smiling so much! Seriously though the surgery was nowhere near as bad as I expected so if it does come to that again I know what to expect! Thank you for always being there for me and being supportive! xx

What a pain for you, having surgery and now the thought of it again!
I know so many people who suffer with their backs and it seems to be an on going problem. I hope they can sort it out for you without resorting to surgery again.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Good luck mummymo x

Thanks for the update mummymo, and please keep them coming. I'm so sorry to hear that you're in so much pain again, and about the problems while on vacation too. It's an awful thing to be trapped in a car like that, and to be so sick. There's nothing wrong with a little sympathy sometimes, as many people have no idea what a person's going through, unless it's happening to them, and 'then' they understand. Make sure you get plenty of rest too.

I appreciate your friendship too, mummymo. I remember one time, I was out with a friend, and I had a terrible migraine. She was driving me home, and she couldn't pull off the highway, and I was so sick, and all over my new coat too. She finally pulled into a mall, and I was sick again in the parking lot ... how embarassing, and terrible at the same time. When this type of thing happens, there really is 'no place like home.' I'm glad to hear your family is spoiling you.

Hiya Sis, somehow, don't ask me how but I've got the internet back up and running, it's not ideal at the moment, until I change ISPs but it's temporary, missing you like crazy, backs are dodgy things and I hope you can get some respite soon I'd give you a hug but I know you are pretty fragile, thanks for keeping me informed and I hope I can give you the same support that you readily give me my beloved sis ;0)

I screamed when I saw a response from you Wolfie my darling - the family came running as they thought I was in bad pain again! lol Then I said 'hang on it's not Tuesday is is'? - then they really started to worry! Never mind it keeps them on their toes! I am so pleased you are back online Sweets , I have been pining for you and it is so good to hear from you! I would risk a bit of pain for a hug from my favourite brother! As for support - you have always been there for me as much as I have for you and you know it - that's what family are for! I saw the doctor today (gp - not consultant) and he has given me a combination of 3 different painkillers - hopefully they will work , I am still waiting for them to kick in! Hugs to you my darling! xxxx

Thank you for the update, Mummymo. Let's just hope now that it puts itself right, with resting, and the second surgery won't be necessary. It must be quite painful just sitting at the computer for an hour.
Anyway, take care and lots of rest; I'll light a candle for you and let's see if with a bit of healing energy and positive thoughts, we can get you through this without more surgery. You've started well by saying that the pain will not rule your life! Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Yes, I did get your PM, my friend, but it didn't tell me all the details you have here, and there was one little hiccup where you said you'd given me your e-mail address and it wasn't there. I searched EVERYwhere for it... behind the computer, under the computer, under my chair, and my table! lol.
I'll send you mine in PM and then maybe you can send me a note, which will give me your e-mail address. Not blonde, are you? ha ha ha
Brightest Blessings, my friend. xxx

Well bagumbayan I am so sorry that you have this problem with your back - I do hope you can find some relief with it! In my casr I couldn't sit stand or walk properly because of it (still can't) and that is why I went through with the surgery. Hello..I too have had back surgery (just one) it was back in 2003 and my back is still messed up..My doctor say's that there really isn't anything else that can be done at this point. I can't work.. I have tried, I can't sit very long, stand very long, or walk very far..
so getting a job that any of that will not affect is very hard. I have been denied S.S. disability for 4 years now and I nor the doctors can understand why. I have my opinion why...There are so many people getting disability out there that do not need it and as a result made it very hard for people that need it. It's a shame that you pay and pay into the system for years and can't get it. I got a pamplet one time that was titled "The guide to YOUR social security" I should have sent it back to them with the word "your" crossed out because it's clearly not mine..yes I paid into it but the way I see it it's everyone's but "mine"...OK sorry I had to vent..back to your surgery..let me know how it goes and good luck. Another thing I need to bring up...How long have you been doing mylot and how much do you get paid (not exact..just a ball park) the reason why I ask is I have just joined today..and love it. and how do you get "friends" on here. and also(gabby...I know) when you reply to a discussion does your mylot ID show?? Thanks for your time.
And good luck again
