Do you make donations to charities, churches, people in need, homeless standing on the corners?

I do give to charities, to churches, but I don't give to those standing on the street corners. I have seen too many expose type stories about how many of them are just conning people. I have on occassion bought coupon books from fast food places and given them to pan-handlers. Many of them won't accept the coupons, which leads me to believe they aren't truly in need of food. I like to share, but I hate to be taken advantage of.

I know what you mean about being taken advantage of. I just decided if I feel led to give, I'll give and what the person does with it is between them and God.

There have been several times when we have been close to broke and still stopped and bought sandwiches and milk to take back to a person that was obviously in need and holding a sign that says "Will work for food." I quit giving to charities (most of them) and churches when I saw my church growing into one of those ritzy keep-up-with-the-Jones churches while the poor members of the church slowly got weeded out instead of helped... If I know for a fact the person asking me for money is going to turn it in to the proper place, i.e. children's, cancer, reading, homeless, soup kitchen, I don't mind a bit. Other than that, nope.

The answer has to be: Of Course! We make donations to all sorts of concerns, including our church.

I always try to donate to charity within my limited capacity of financial resources . It is great to help the poor and those who are really in need .

I personally do not like to give money to people begging in the streets. I feel bad for them but I also have no idea what they will do with the money. I also do not have a lot of money to give away because my husband and I are on a very tight budget. I feel that these people can take advantage of services put in place to help then find jobs. I guess this may sound horrible but I do donate in other ways. I donate blood often. It is something I can do even though I have a limited income. I also donate my old clothing and household items. I donated my car to a local school when I decided to get rid of it. On occasion if I have extra money I will send a check to a local organization. I also like to donate my time to the girl scouts and community organizations.
