Are weightloss scholarships a worthy cause to give a donation for?

How about it? We're willing to give money to help the homeless, help natural disaster survivors, feed the hungry...Why not give to help a serious person lose weight? What are your thoughts about this?

I seriously don't believe that's a worthy cause. The number one aspect of weight loss in an individual's own will power to lose weight. You don't need money to lose weight. Natural disasters are not preventable by individuals; therefore, I don't believe it's your fault if your home is destroyed by a natural disaster. As for being homeless, though that can be blamed on the individual in many cases, being homeless is much worse than being overweight; therefore it's a more serious problem and deserves donations.

Hmm, that's an interesting question, especially since obesity has become more common lately. It's just as bad as smoking or other health problems. I guess anyone can do whatever they want with their money and if they think this cause is worth it, then they should do it. For me, I think if the desire and motivation to lose weight is not coming from yourself, then the scholarship is meaningless.
