What really happens in Pulp Fiction

So I've watched Pulp Fiction tons of times and if you use what they are wearing as the time line for the movie you can see what happens in what order as the movie jumps around a lot. What I'm saying is they start out in suits, kill that guy, end up in street clothes, where Samuel Jackson says he wants out of that lifestyle, then they are back in suits, John Travolta does all kinds of stuff but what gets me is he is shot in the bathroom. So if you put things in chronological order does John Travolta's character die? Does Samuel Jackson's character change his lifestyle?
