Is it bad if i always rate them a plus even if i dont give comments back but i rate them with a plus because im thankful theyve replied to me.?
Whatever response you give to me i always rate them and if i think your response is really good i mark it as a best response. :) even if your a blue star :) i still rate you.
man i wish i would come to the point as a blue star, though it doesn't change a thing, but it would be nice to see a blue star for a change :)

i always rate those who replies my discussion with a + too! i said almost because I never rated 1 who replied to my post. this mylotter copied the WHOLE RESPONSE of the person before him/her. It was in verbatim, more like copy and paste thing. i don't want to offend him/her but i told the person to refrain from doing it. s/he might be kicked out from mylot if s/he continues...
nwei, as i was saying. I think everyone deserves a + for the effort of replying and giving a sensible reply. i may not give feedback to each reply but at least i get to appreciate their responses.
with the blue star, you'll have it too! just be patient :) everyone deserves a blue star :)

That would be very nice of you, it is up to you and I don't see anything wrong.
Personally, I mark all responses and discussions with a + too. Only the rare cases that deserve minuses get them from me.
There is a selfish streak in some people and they might hesitate to give people pluses because of some perverse mentality. But that's fine too. It is human to be different.
Just do what you feel like. :)

I always give a + rating to whomever is nice enough to respond to me also, well, unless they are totally rude or something...know what I mean?LOL!
I think you deserve a blue star too, your responses and discussions are great IMHO.

I always rate everyone on my discussions with a +. It doesn't matter to me what their rating is already. If they found my discussion interesting enough to comment on, then I consider it a gracious gesture to rate them for it. It's the least I can do.

I also give plus rating to all who respond to my discussion. Even when I respond to any discussion first I rate them + and then respond. But, I am not sure other users are also following the same thing. I just completed 100 posts and I was totally shocked to see 55/100 rating. It felt very bad after watching that green star.
I directly posted a discussion on the same and got some interesting fact, which I never knew before. I think deserved more that 55. I always make sure my respond should have some thought in it. Good descriptive and qualitative responses. I expected at least red star but when I saw that green one. I really felt bad, really really bad.
I hope it will improve after some time automatically. As I know I doing my best.
Happy posting.

It's not a bad thing in my opinion.
Actually I find it quite a nice thing to do and it's important to rate other uses. You acknowledge there responses and help them :)
I do it too. ~joey

for four months of staying here in mylot, i never gave anyone with a negative rating. all those who responded to my discussions were rated with A+. it's the nicest way i can express to thank them for their time and efforts in replying to me.
someday soon you'll reach for that blue star. good luck.

That's good to know because I do too. I hardly rate anyone here as negative...haven't remembered when I did it but it's good to know that you give the positive ratings to any friend who responds to your discussions. Here's wishing the best of luck to all of us Mylotters...

With very few exceptions, I rate everyone positive. I've tried to stay away from the negative ratings, because it's too judgemental and ultimately hurts my own rating. I think they want people to play nice. Just keep making friends, and when those friends rate your discussions positively you'll see that your star goes up quickly.

No, it's not bad if that's the way you feel about it. I wish I had more responses for my comments...

Of course not!I hope you rated me positive...I'd rather not rate then giving a negative rate. If a mylot user is acting below the belt, then he/she needs to get a negative rating...

I do the same thing. I don't always get a chance to comment on all of the response I get. So I will always rate the responses to show my appreciation. That's what I'm working on tonight actually. I'm going through all of my unresolved discussions and picking out best responses and rating all the replies.

Yeah I always rate every single response to my discussions + (positive) and I always leave a comment on every one of them! I spend more time on myLot typing up comments than responses so I do not make much lol I wish they would start paying for comments too! I also always rate all of the discussions and responses that I read + (positive). So if I replied to your discussion/response or if you replied to mine than you can be sure that I have rated you + (positive). :-)

What do the little + and - things do? I understand they are for good and bad, but does it get anybody anywhere or is it just for looks?
