When I was a kid walking home from school one day there was a lady working in her yard and she has a little nervous dog who came running toward me yapping away. I just continued to walk and ignored the dog. Just after she said don't worry, he won't bit you, he bit down on my calf. Fortunately he was a small dog that was not very strong and I only got some bad bruises and the skin was not broken.

I was 10 years old then when our own dog bit me. She just gave birth and maybe she did'nt recognized me because I was wearing a long dress hehehe. I was so scared because I'm afraid of the injections. Good thing my parents brought me to a quack doctor we call it SONA in our dialect. Wherein the guy use a needle to stick in the wound and he suck the blood from it to take out the rabies. Its effective because its more than seven years now but no sign of rabies. (That I'm glad)

It might be hard to believe but in the Philippines its the practice in some provinces and mind you its more effective than having those 24 shots of injections where there are reported cases that the patients after several years they discovered that rabies is still there. I would not force you to believe but that is based on my experience and I reckon that our dog that bit me got rabies because just a few minutes after she bit me the wounds became black. Have a nice day!!!

Sounds to me like the dog just didn't have rabies because I don't think the treatment you got would work.

When I was 18, I tried to save a kitten. He was that poor but I think he just so afraid to human. I was taking him from the drain and about to clean him up. He tried to escape but I still insist to. Suddenly he did bite and I got so shocked. My hand did bleed badly. I let him go and just gave him some milk. Although i got bitten by the cat I still a cat lover. :)

Yes, you have to be really careful trying to help an injured or sick animal. They will often react out of fear and strike out at you even though you are trying to help them.

I have never been bit by a dog that did not belong to me. But I was once bit by my own dog but it was my fault. The dog was asleep and I bent down to give her a kiss and my hair must have got into her eyes and she bit me right in the chin. I didn't need stitches but it did break the skin.

everyone often say that if a dog run to you and yap you and you ignore it, it will not do anything. However, I saw some dog hate kids. They bite the kids they saw. I don't know why, but I saw the dogs like that. Maybe you were unlucky at that time to meet that dog.

When I was 19, my family had a petting zoo with many different animals. We had a miniture donkey, and one day I was trying to move it to a diiferent pen. It went crazy, and attacked me. It bit me 7 times, on my arms hands and chest. I still have the scars to prove it!! Growing up on a farm, I've been bit by lots of other animals too, cows, dogs, horses, geese, cats, chickens, and even a gopher once!!

We had a shetland pony for several years and it was very gentle to everyone but my mother. It never bit her but it did drag her across several neighbors yards when it got out one day and she tried to stop it. You never can tell for sure what animals are going to do. Sounds like you got more than your fair share of bites.

When I was young, my Grandfather and I went to a public pool to swim around. When I came back, I took a sip from my apple juice can. As soon as I did that, I was stung by a bee. It was so painful. That was the only time I was ever stung or bit.

I,ve always had tons of animals, and yes i,ve been bitten. i was bitten by a wild mouse i tried to catch, mymom freaked and tookme to the er,i was fine. i was scratching oneof our cats once and it was chattering its teeth like it was nibbleing an invisible itchy spot, then it went to bite the part i was scratching, got my finger and clamped down ina frozen itch frenzy, with my finger caiught in the middle. all four canines went through my hand and finger. it hurt so much iwent into shock, and had to go to the er. i still have sczres 30 years later. i was bit by a brown recluse spider and have the scare from that. i,v been bitten by a couple dogs we have, they were fighting, and i tried to break them up by picking one up, and even though they are only 3 and 4 pound chihuhuas it was still a bad bite. ive been bitten by horses as well i alsways had poniesand horses. my oldest son,s first pony hated me,and loved him, lol! she bit and kicked me. i was even bitten by a red racer snake once.

Hi there stealthy, Sorry to hear that you got bitten by a dog.... I am sure that lady felt very sorry about what happened, but luckily you did not sustain great injuries..... When i was about 15-16, my grandma's dog used to bite me sometimes when it is in a bad mood and i try to pick it up (it was a tiny dog, very cute).... Sometimes i would bleed and it is quite painful, but i did not really mind as i love that dog so much, it is actually a very nice dog, it does not USUALLY bite, but sometimes it does. Now that i am older, i tend to be more careful and when it tries to bite me, i know when it is in a bad mood and i have a way to pick it up so that it CAN'T bite me at all! =D Some dogs are very large and aggressive, cases have been reported in Australia that large dogs have killed children of young age when their owners are not present, some other cases have reported that old people have also been attacked on the street by stray dogs..... You really have to be careful if you see a stray dog which looks agressive, the best way to escape if one is biting you, is to hit its nose, then it will let go if it was biting you =D hope this helped... stay safe!

If we don't count the millions of mosquito bites that I receive each year I was never bitten by any other animal. Animals and I seem to get along quite well and even dogs that have been known to get mad and bit usually respect my space as long as i respect theirs. Some small breeds seem to be like little ruffians yapping and charging but myself I usually am more careful with the big silent type :) WHen I was younger I used to be a bit less careful and approach most dogs - although in a non threatening way . Now I am a bit more careful if I don't know the dog, just because one never knows and many factors can contribute for a dog or any animal to be dangerous. I hope that your calf is better now.

Domingo - He's actually playing in this pic but I altered it so you can't see my daughter offering him a rope toy to pay tug of war with. Looks like he's bout ready to sink his teeth into someone/something w/o her in it.
Whenever someone says 'oh, he/she won't bite you' tells me the dog bites. Don't know why ppl just don't own up to their dog's bad habits and admit it. Sure would prevent some of the dog bites that happen. I warn ppl about my dog's possiblity of biting so they leave him alone. He won't always bite but I don't like to take the chance of someone just reaching out to pet him w/o asking first. I know what he's thinking b4 he does something so I stop him b4 he carries his thinking thru. He has bit someone once but that was back when he was still in his abusive home. He hasn't bit anyone since I rescued him but that is only because I won't put him in a situation that might encourage him.

When I was a teenager,my first sister'leg was bitten by a snake,my father used a shosestring to tie her leg where was up the wound,he said the virus blood would not cycle and infect the rest of blood. Then my sister as soon as possible to wash his leg in the faucet, the current is more fast and strong more better, as it could flush the virus out. And meanwile some of us called the doctor alrealy, he said my father did a good job.so I think our family or teachers should tell us more commen sence to protect ourselves, even it is not very powerfull, but that help doctor a little or a lot. Most of time the animals are attacked, we could not avoid them if we only try to ignore them.
