Batibot is the Filipino version of Sesame Street in the US, here in the Philippines. If I'm not mistaking, the mascot which was known as "Pong Pagong" (Turtle) was originally from the US.
I missed the stories of "Kuya Bodgie", the animal sounds he make and the value it teaches to filipino kids. "Kiko Matsing" was the local version of "Oscar the Grouch", with "Teatro Bulilit" showcasing fingers as puppets and the fun ways of learning the Philippine alphabet and counting the numbers. With live supporting casts like Kuya Bodgie, Kuya Mario, Mang Lino and ate Sienna.
I think this show became famous simply because of providing children an alternative, fun way of learning filipino traits and educating them in a very enthusiastic manner.
I really missed watching it, was sad that children of this generation didn't get to even see it. I believe that it helped me in more one ways than one, not by just watching it but also by learning from it.
I remember the time that I used to watch it twice a day, before I went to school and a replay on the afternoons.
How about you guys, what have you missed about this show? Or have you ever had the chance to watch this, is there anything else that came more popular than this show?;)

hello raij! and i do love the batibot show for sure.
i have met kuya bodgie in makati last year with his mom at KFC. i don't really know his name. but when i saw him, i got this big smile on my face knowing that i have met kuya bodgie in real life. he's so nice to his mom guiding her where to sit. he's such a nice man.
anyway, i hope the kids of today will get to watch batibot. it will help them so much in learning!
take care!... anne

"kuya Bodgie" is Bodgie Pascua in real life, he still acts. In theater, I often watch him in CCP. He played, Father Florentino if I can recall correctly, in CCP's rendition of El' Filibusterismo, that was years ago, but I know he still performs in theater.

oh yeah, i can easily remember Kuya Bodgie and his stories. How he changes his voice in order to make the story more interesting specially to children. I also remember the drawings of the story, how I was impressed with the drawings, how simple but concise and a very effective tool in catching children's attention. How I miss those times when the children are only allowed to watch those kinds of shows, educational and value forming. Nowadays, the children watch violent anime cartoons and a never ending stream of sinenovela telenovela or whatever they think to call it next. Oh yes, it's sad that programs like Batibot ends up in the sack and our children of today don't get to see and watch these types of programs no more...

I can't recall ever watching sesame street when I was younger, I find I watch it more often now with my son. It took him a while to get into it and finally he likes to watch it from time to time. My son is into sponge bob, naruto, power rangers, and so forth now.

I miss watching this show... I once saw kuya bodjie at mcdonalds panay having breakfast. I felt like a child again when i saw him. The show is very imformative and really teaches kids good morals. So sad its not on air anymore... its much way better than the educational shows right now.
