I just went and got our necessities for the three of us today, I swear that everything goes up a few cents each week, plus a lot of the stores around here are trying to get more money than they should for tier items, because we just had a flood, alot of the streets are still blocked off and travel is rough, it is getting better, but oh my, it is still bad, and the gas prices in the flooded area, went up by about 15 cents per gallon over the other small towns around that were not affected by the flood waters, why do they price gouge? i think there should be strict Federal rules and regulations on this kind of behavior. And enforcers around to make sure the rules stick. This is getting ridiculous. What do you think should be done in this kind of situation?

Yes, such things happen and its very frustrating for common people. The government should consider upto some extend even when the situation is not favorable. I am very poor in the knowledge of government functioning but sometimes it seems that they don't consider much for the people. Anyway everywhere its same, specially those gas prices it goes up like a hydrogen ballon and is hard to pull down.

As far as groceries go, we usually spend $150 - 200. But that includes baby formula, diapers, dog food, stuff like that. My husband works an hour away from home and he drives a gas guzzlings 4x4, so he spends close to $200 a week just on gas. I haven't been paying close attention to gas prices because my husband fills up ours cars but a friend of mine who owns a couple gas stations says that it'll be up to $5 a gallon by Christmas. I'm hoping he's wrong though.
