The Up's & Down's, the Ebb & Flow

I was just wondering if you guys think that things happen in sequences? I mean, it seems right now we are going through some pretty rubbish times (although only materialistically on the whole). We had one good thing happen to us, my fiance had an offer of compensation for an accident he was in a few years ago- we thought, great, pay off some debts and save some for the wedding, then, a week later, KABOOOOM, he loses his job! So now he is jobless, my brother is probably about to lose his job as well (through no fault of his own), my sister in law has had a disciplinary at her job for not "meeting targets", my uncle has left my auntie, my mum's job has been put down to part time hours and my crazy fool of a grandad, who can see we are all struggling decides to give his life savings away to the "Canadian Lottery". So great, we are all struggling, might not be able to eat next week and he gives a ton of cash to some con men (by the way, you shouldn't feel sorry for him being "targeted"- sooooooo many people have told him they are blatently con men, even his bank manager!). As everything seems to have gone to pot lately, I just wondered if you reckon these things happen in cycles- my fiance said things were "going good for a while, so we were due some s***!"... but why should we be due some rubbish?! Gah! Rant over ;-)
