I am of the opinion that the g in the word burger should be pronounced as if in the word general, but some of my friends here say it should be pronounced as if in give. English is not our first language, so can somebody clarify this possition

It makes the g sound like in give. It is pronounced like a lion grrrr Burgrrr. I hope that helps some. I know English can be a very tricky language to learn and speak. My own husband had problems quite frequently, as he is not a native English speaker either. I do so hope I was of some help to you my dear Abroji :)

As you may well know by now. The G in burger is pronounced as in give. The English language is full of exceptions and variations on foreign words. It is learnable and I hope you find it a fun process. Good luck.

Hey ! abroji .. it's definitely 'g' as in go,give, get, gone etc . You order for hamburger = haam burger ..not for a haam burjer .

I would say the "g" for Burger should sounds like girl,good,got,get.... definitely not gents or genuine.... So the right pronounciation should be "Burger" not "Burjer"....:)
