I love to make crafts- Something about getting a large piece of wood- and ending with a beautiful project- I trace it - My sig. other cuts it out- and I sand it and then paint it and we put it together together-
I'm attaching a picture of one I made- It's an Americana plant holder-
I try to make gifts for friends and family- I know what they like and make it- I like primitive projects the best-
Anyone else crafty?

I love to make crafts. That is a really cute Americana planter. I enjoy working with clay most of all. I used to dabble a little bit in everything but since my son has been born I don't have the free time I used to have. When I find myself with some time on my hands I want to sit at the potters wheel..... and that is not happening near enough lately.
I wish I lived close enough to you to be part of that group of girls you exchange gifts with. I bet you guys have fun.

That's neat. I don't do wood crafts, we just don't have the space, but it must feel so good to finish a project like that.
My husband does some woodworking, but he takes classes at the community centre - they have all of the equipment.

Last Christmas my hubby and I made hanging cutting boards for friends and family. We took a 8x12" rectangular shaped piece of hardwood (hickory) that was at least 1 inch thick.
About 6" from the top we drew a puzzle piece shaped bulb. The bulb part pointed upwards. Then we cut that out on the scroll saw. Sanded, polished and used a food safe oil on the pieces. The top piece gets screwed into the cabinet/wall/ where ever, and the bottom 1/2 then is just removed (like a puzzle piece) and used.
Clear as mud right??? LOL! I wish I had a picture to show you, but alas, I don't. It would make a lot more sense to you if I had a photo.
I like your plant holder. I bet your friends and family enjoyed them as well!
Happy crafting for this holiday season!

My favorite kinds of crafts is making flags and banners. I also like to make things out of junk, there is nothing like taking something and making it useful. I also like to make jewelry out of different things like the year my daughter and I got together to make feather earrings with beads, they went very well...

I love this planter. You did a beautiful job with it. I have tried to get my hubby to try his hand at woodworking projects. He says he doesn't have time. I think he is a bit worried about how it will turn out. He lacks confindence. I would be willing to give it a try myself if we had the proper equipment to make them.

Nice plant stand. I am not the crafty one in the house but my boyfriend is. He is always making something out of wood. He just got done making a coffin for a Halloween party. he made a lot of our christmas gifts last year and I am sure he will do the same this year.

I too love crafts. Your photo is beautiful. My husband is the talented one though. He has so much more talent than I. He makes such beautiful woodworking items. Everyone just loves it when Christmas time comes because they know he makes his gifts.

That is a beautiful plant holder you done a great job on it. My boyfriend makes shelves and names cut of of wood, he also a few weeks ago made a little stepping stool for his niece so that she can have a step up in the bathroom sink. He does other things out of wood from time to time. He also makes windchimes out of old bike frames, I have a few pics on my profile. Hugs!

I love knitting and embroidering, although I have not done that for years, and I would not mind someone making me a tea cozy if we did not drink tea so much that it is not worth it. I am a disaster at making wood crafts. When I was learning arts at the art gallery, we had lithograph classes, and I cut myself more often than I did the wood. Copper I could manage, but well me and wood - ouch~! I do therefore admire anyone who can make anything out of wood. My father=in=law made us a set of salad bowl sets, but forgot the one rule. Do not soak them in water. That was about a year after he passed.

That's an awesome plant stand! I love crafting, but I don't often work with wood.
When I do, it's usally to make a few picture frames. I use driftwood from the ocean (as much as possible) and fill in with some "aged" wood. I decorate the frame with shells, a charm or 2 and perhaps a piece of bach glass or two that are a bit too rough to make jewelry with.
They usually sell quickly to the tourist-y types that come to the beach in the summer.
I usually make jewelry, knit and work with poly clay mostly.

I really enjoy painting on unpainted wood items, such as sign boards, stools, containers, etc. However, since moving to the UK, it has been difficult to find suppliers. If anyone out there knows of a good website, or shop in the Glasgow, Scotland area, please let me know.

i'm proud of my paper crafts because they are so delicacy that everyone who see them said kudos. how i hope you can see it so that you will believe that i don't overstate my paper crafts......excuse me, i'm a little excited when you refer to crafts. LOL.
