How do you pray?

I know that sounds weird, but I pray sporadically and sometimes fall asleep during my prayers. Guess that is why people back in the day knelt at their bedside instead of laying down to do it. lol. Do you pray over every meal? Do you ask for just big things or lots of little things? Do you repeat prayers until they come to you, or do you pray for different stuff, having faith that He will get to your request in His own time? I sometimes pray over meals, when I remember to. I ask for all kinds of things and tend to repeat myself alot. Things like praying for patience when dealing with my son, or for the lord to appease my anger, I REALLY need to say these frequently. I find it is hard for me to NOT repeat them and have fait that He will take care of it in His time....

Ohhhhh noooo praying for patience is not always wise. Haaa you said you pray for help with your son could be gods way of breaking you into patience. God is a jealous and funny father. He will bless his children as he sees fit in the manner they need, not what they want all the time. We all tend to want what we want but we need what is good for us. Try to have short prayers through out the day. I start off by sayin heavenly father in the name of jesus please give me the strength to get through today, you know what i need please help me in the name of jesus amen! Sometimes when the kids get on the nerve so bad, i pray uuggh god please help me with these kids today, this is too much for me today,i give it to you to handle, i know you said you wouldnt give me anything i couldn't handle, and well right now i dont feel like i am doing so well, please god give me the strenght to get through this day with them in the name of jesus amen! After saying that and believeing it, i tend to feel a bit, and do mean a bit better. then as the day goes on its pretty good and i think back, hey that was really cleaver of you lord! Your the best! and i give him praise. I reconise that i dont always get my prayers answered the way i might expect them to be but just feeling a bit better within self makes me feel like i am on my way. I do pray over my meals at times. Sometimes i feel so rushed and tired i skip through it but i try to maintain a daily relationship with god. Sometimes repeating prayer is neccessary. I am sure he fixes it each time you pray for it, well at least that day its done but when the situation arises it might be called for a recap. After all i feel like lifes lessons are repeats at times. Yeah they look different but they are the same! I hope this helps

Is that why I never seem to get my prayer answered on that issue? lol. I thought he gives us what we need. And there are times I NEED more patience and understanding. I don't NEED anger. lol. So I continue to pray....

Actually you are wrong about that. Praying for patience gives me time to gather more patience, so in essence he DOES give me what I ask for. Thanks for the enlightenment!

Haa haa yeah, praying for patience takes you through more processes aka more fustrating situations until you finally are able to learn and deal with the hard situations.

I am a bit of a rebel in my family as I pray when I like to and go to temples when I feel I need to. There are no fixed patterns except for on some very important religious days when my family goes along. So that way I pray when my mind is either very peaceful or very turbulent or actually when I just get a feeling that I need to go and visit a temple. My parents and wife though pray at least two times in the day, once early in the morning and once in the evening around 6:00. Cheers! Ram

I don't pray before I eat. I pray right before I go to sleep. I lay in my bed and close my eyes and pray. I pray for my family first and then I pray for the whole world. I pray at church too. That's about it though!

Laying in bed is how I get to falling asleep. lol. I'm a stay at home mom of a 4 year old and newborn, so that explains it this time around. Before Hannah was here, I plead the 5th. lol!

pray to God just like talking to a friend, talk to God and tell God what you really feel and what you want. you could talk about anything and everything to a friend, so talk to God just like that and feel free to tell Him anything and everything under the sun.
