Do you own your own house, or do you rent a house or a room?

I rent a house, and have 2 roommates that rent 2 of the upstairs bedrooms from me.
I couldn't afford to buy in this city. The dingy 2 bedroom place across the way just sold for $235,000 with no fenced backyard and in serious need of work.
