I have found out that squidoo is by far the easies way to
get listed in Google. Found a topic of interest, create a
lens, ad some tags, and before long you may see your site
listed under Google.
I know that I have been successful with two off my lenses.
My first lens is about Traffic Exchange Promoting. I didn't
know a lot about using traffic exchanges when I started the
lens but I found out as I went and added to my lens. Within
two months I had Number 1 listing on Google for "Traffic Exchange Promoting".
I decided to further my adventure in the traffic exchange
area with creating a splash page generator. I created a lens for this and it became in the top 5 within 3 days for
"Splash Page Marketing".

I Squidoo also. I just discovered the site a few days ago, so my lens is still slowly making its way up the ranks. I'm going to start another one on panic and anxiety soon. My first lens is about making money online. Squidoo is so easy to use, I had no problems making my first website. Want to see it? www.squidoo.com/kel12347

That's a fantastic lens! Thanks for sharing it. I've got a few myself - one that I use as a "Table of Contents" and three for articles on various subjects. I have one called http://www.squidoo.com/sprawl_stinks and anther on family and parenting at http://www.squidoo.com/randomfam that is getting a bit long for my taste.
Squidoo lenses are very easy to set up but not to do well. The rules for things like blogs and landing pages where you want to keep your newest stuff on top and your important info "above the fold" don't work there. you are limited in your ability to customize until you learn the ropes and rearranging links is a pain in the...
But you can do a bit of self-promotion and throw backlinks out to people (including yourself). It's a system like any other. You just have to put in the time and energy to learn the ropes.
