Are teenage minor girls showing too much skin? Skimpy clothing?

Here in California since it is the summertime I've notice when that there are minor girls wearing less clothing with shorts above their thighs and shirts with their belly buttons/stomachs exposed. These are the types that promote car washes around the area or go in the mall. To me I find it disturbing and I ask myself where are the parents? And why do father's allow their child to wear such clothing? What do you say about this? Is it an issue or not? If you have a daughter that was a minor would you allow them to wear what they want or would you set limitations on what they wear?

Yes the girls today are showing too much skin. My daughter and I argue about her clothes all the time. I prefer shorts that go right to the knee or capris are even better. My daughter is not allowed to wear the tank tops with the thin straps in publis unless they are covered by something else. I think the reason this is happening more is because the fathers have no control over what clothes are being bought for the daughters. Moms are the ones getting more lenient and it may be because they themselves dress that way. I like to look nice but I don't have to show off my body to do it. My husband and I both agree on what my daughter can and can't wear out in public. That is why it works so well for us.

I agree that in today's society a lot of our young girls, especially teenagers are flaunting an awful lot of skin. They should try to hide themselves a little more. They need to realize that they are more than what they can show body-wise. I think that there is too much pressure from friends and television to keep up with the rest so they can fit it. It is kind of sad when you think about it. I think that I would set some limitations and try to be a good role model and explain to them that they are important no matter what.

If I have a minor daughter,I won't let her wear clothes like you said. But just beacuse so many men want to see girls wearing less clothes, there will be girls like you said around us.

I think girls these days are showing too much skin. In a world where you have to watch for pedophiles around every corner and every house, you would think that parents would make more of an effort to keep their kids safe. I think society tries to tell parents it's okay to let their kids wear skimpy clothes. For example, when I have to buy underwear for my 6 year old, there is the option to buy bikini style. I think that is ridiculous. Briefs should be the only thing little girls wear. Bathing suits are another touchy point- 2 piece or 1 piece. I feel like if you really care about the safety of your children you would buy 1 piece. Parents need to protect their children. I know people tend to feel like they are invincible but those feelings should not extend past ones self and onto their children. Children can and are hurt every single day in this country.
