does your dog help you wash the dishes?

I used to have a neighbor who let her dog lick the dishes clean. She set them all down on the floor and the big dog licked them all off. Then she washed them and it was quick and easy. Have you tried this nifty way to wash dishes? If not why not?

This may gross you out. But yes, I let my dog lick my plate. She licks it all clean and then I throw it away. You see I use paper plates. Less dishes that way. And her licking it, she is just getting a small taste of what I ate. They say human food is not good for dogs but I know dogs that have ate human food and lived to be very old. P.S. I don't do this when we have company as some would think it is gross. Just when it is me and my husband. They also say a dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans.

Actually, When you throw the paper plate away it doesn't gross me out. But if you let the dog lick your dinnerware clean.....thats a different story!

Ok, So are your dogs overweight? I've been told that a dog should be able to eat everything in his dish, but only Once a day!

For me personally, NO WAY. For one you would always have your dogs in the kitchen waiting for food scraps. I can't do the animals in the house thing, so they would have no chance at the kitchen sink!

Personally, I'd be grossed out, knowing that a dog had licked my plate before I ate from it. Perhaps it'd be all in my head, but! Dogs belong in the doghouse! Dirty dishes belong in the Sink? (Am I right?)

Totally right, I was grossed out but was trying to be politically correct as there are so many dog lovers around, didn't want to upset anyone. Doghouse, yes - in the neighbors yard, not mine!

I don't think I can allow it..altough I don't have a dog..It's not both healthy for humans and for the dogs too..and here in our place we don't have automatic dishwasher, we wash our plates on the sink.I just can't do that.

I think you have it right! A dogs place is in his doghouse! I wash my dishes at the sink too.

I think it's a good idea ,but I afraid it must be like the one thing that is in total disorder`````

When I am done with my meal I put my plate down for the cats and dogs to eat what is left of it. I don't put an empty plate down there for them to lick off no but my pets do love human food so I give it to them. They don't beg but when they know I am cooking the kitchen is full of the babies waiting for that special treat.

You have a house full of lucky pets. Are there any who will only eat steak and potatoes? MY dog likes his steak rare! So rare that its still running. Thats because hes a Cowdog!

Hi there.. Now that's a pretty neat way to wash the dishes, but no, I haven't tried them ever.. That's unhygenic for the dog.. I don't even let my dog sleep on my bed so I can't imagine him seeing inside the kitchen as well...
