When I was a teanager I was in the hospital a lot. I had seen a picture of a blue rose and was telling my Mom how pretty it was. The next day when she came to see me at the hospital and she brought me a blue rose. The flower shop would take a white rose and spray blue paint on it.
So my question is this. Are there REAL blue rose bushes now? It there are do you know wher I can get one in Wisconsin, USA?

There are certain hybrids that they claim to be blue. However I have not seen it. I bought 2 roses from Lowe's that were supposed to be blue and they are not.
The one you received when you were younger was probably dyed. It can be done by getting a white rose and food coloring. Put the food coloring in the water and there you go. Roses of what ever color you choose.

roses dont produce delphinidin, the plant pigment that produces true blue flowers.
there are some hybrids that claim to be "blue" but they look more like lilac.
a LOT of florist shops just spray paint white roses..which is pretty, but not very natural looking. like the person above me stated...take a white rose and add blue food coloring to its water..the coloring that happens to the petals definatly looks far more natural.
i found a florist (in Toronto) that doesnt just spray paint their white roses..they do the colored water thing..and from the pics the blue color is very striking!!
here's a link to them if you are interested in ordering;

I have never seen a blue rose, there may be one, but I do not know anything about it.
