Ok lately I have seen my Cairn terrier dump her dog food on the ground. Sometimes she will eat it off the ground other times just flip the dish. My other dog eats her food just fine. What is she trying to tell me?

I am a vet tech, and I also have a dog that does this. She is a spayed female Kelpie (cattle dog) and is 20 years old. We have found a pattern with her that when 'her world' has been invaded....EX: new dog, new people in the house, stress: She will do this, also when she gets mad when we leave her at home when she wants to go, we will come home and find her food scattered from one end of the house to the other. It is frustrating , but punishing them is not the answer. If I catch her trying to spill her food, I tell her 'no' in a stern voice and then pick the food up right then and tell her 'no' again. This seems to help alot and we don't have nearly the problems with 'spilled food' as before.

1st off I want to thank you for your reply to my post and I serously agree with you. My neighbors are always leaving their dog's belongings around my driveway and even in front of the door steps. Gets me furious!!!! One time I stepped on some while I was running late to work!!!!! INSANE I TELL YA!!!
