Say at least thanks !!!!

It is against the guidelines to just say thanks. I do go through my discussions and if I find one that has a good discussion I will thank them only if it creates further comment. I have been nailed for to many guide line infractions by the mylot self proclaimed police to even risk it, so maybe you should be taking your concerns to mylot, rather than take the lack of thank yous as a personal affront.

I don't think it's necessary for someone to post thanks to every response on their discussion, but I too get annoyed if a person does not reply to any of the responses given. I don't mind a person not responding to my comments as long as they have responded to some people.

I try to repsond to everyone.If i cant get to everybody that same day i do rate them with a (+) then i go back the next day and respond.To me its all in resect.I've seen tons of discussions started with no comments.

Yes sometiems it makes me feel sad...!! For some of my responses I work so hard and try to make it a quality one....!! But some poeple just don't care to say thanks to such responses..!! This is so bad..!

My friend, I am all for acknowledging the answers given to my discussions, that's what makes mylot such a nice place to be and what turns the discussions in a real sharing of ideas and opinions. However you are wrong. Saying thanks for a response is actually against myLot rules. If you read them there is a part where it really discourages member from replying to post with a thank you. I understand that we like to see that people read our response and somehow give us some feedback, but not just thanks as you suggest, and any new members that might be reading your post can be mislead to think that this is ok by myLot rules when it isn't. THe second point to make is that people receive many responses to their discussions. As far as I've seen most - including me - tend to somehow acknowledge the answer they get but sometimes it becomes very time consuming and a lot of us don't have much time here in myLot. I find myself answering to responses that are sometimes one month old because that's when I get there. SO although it is really nice to turn the discussion in a real dialogue where people respond and then their response receives a comment etc, it is not always possible nor is it encouraged by myLot - at least when it comes to only leave a thank you for each response. To give answer to your post, I personally thank everyone who responds to my posts as well as greeting people with a hi there, or hello, its only out of curteousness and respect that I do this... And to be honest its become second nature... What you put out you, get back... So Be Nice lol... Thanks for the post, it can be looked at as a "Reality Check" for some lol...

I agree with you... sometimes it's nice to read and look back to our discussions and we see plenty of responses in it. It's not just that we are hoping to be paid, but acknowledging the responses of others makes them look forward in replying again to our discussions. I'm always happy to see my topics with replies and I let them know with just a simple thanks.

My understanding is your not suppose to say thanks, also you do not get any compensation for posting to everyones response. I think you only get credit for one. It's a non issue for me. I don't think you should be upset because someone does not say thanks.

It's hard to go back to all discussions and reply to every response. I try to respond to most of them and especially the ones that I have more to say to. Just saying "thank you" doesn't mean much.. if I have something to add to their response I will do so. Sometimes I give a simple thanks if I feel it's necessary. It's just hard to get to every comment! I hope you don't think people do not appreciate your responses, I'm sure they do :)

i am a newbie here in mylot and with the first discussion i opened, i'd reply to all those who responded until somebody posted the guidelines that says i don't have to respond to every reply that i get. another one suggested that to show that i have read what the others have written, it would be better to rate it so that's what i do now. i'm sure it goes without saying that we are all grateful that there are people who find time to post to our discussions whether positive or negative as we are all entitled to our own opinions and that's what makes mylot more enjoyable.

It is sometimes really fristrating to see this. But one should maintain mylot guidelines. If you have something to comment then only comment not give mere thank you. It's mentioned in the FAQ section of mylot. Thanks or thank you only is against mylot guidelines. It is better to have something like Thanks for your nice view etc.

I usually say thanks to a respond that interest me or it is good. I agree we should say thanks to everyone that has been nice to us, but in mylot, I dont think so, some maybe dont have enough time to say thanks. like me, because in my computer waiting for mylot to loading again is time consuming. I am responding to a discussion sincerely, so you dont have to thank me... Besides, we will get paid from mylot. So we have to say thank you to Mylot..

the reason why many would not say thanks its because its against the guidelines..if you will read the dont's of mylots guidelines discussion you will it stated, do not always say thnaks..it will not increase your earnings..thats why many would just like to say thank you in different manner like, appreciate it..

I just think that if a person starts a discussion and thank everyone who responded, thats like cheating the system..those thank yous will add up and before you know it, this person has almost made a dollar not saying anything substantial but thank you..I didn't even know it was against the rules..if thats the case, there are a lot of people here that got away with it...

I used to thank those who responded to my discussions until it was brought to my attention that it is against the mylot guidelines to do so! Please don't take it personally when folks do not thank you, they are bound by the guidelines of the forum!

First of all, you will have to get used to that. there are a lot of people here who will never come back to a discussion they start. It's just apart of mylot. Second, the do's and dont's section of FAQ say not to do that. I'm not sure why, it's just what it says. I don't think it's against policy, they just advise against it. You have retorted in a just manner . Why do people not find time to express at least a word of thanks to responses ... it is quite unfair on the part of all concerned .

Hi elshaddai! I always visit the discussion i've started and used to say thank you to all who responded to my post, saying thank you to all my friends who responded to my discussion is the only way for me to show to them that i appreciate their responses.

I totally agree with you. I am very thankful for anyone who takes the time and interest to come to my site and share their 'perspective' and I tell them so. I am a big believer in the 'attitude of gratitude' way of going through life. Your view fits with mine...it only takes a minute to pause and let the respondent know that we appreciate their comments...after all they could be going somewhere else and not participating...and that would make it pretty boring. You raised a good point...I hope others get it!
