Anyone want to try this with me

Okay, at times some of us know we have tons of things we wish we would do but we don't make time for them. Example, exercise to lose weight and be healthy, write a book, maybe help out the elderly, or applying ourselves a little each day to become a singer, play the guitar or whatever it is. So, I was thinking that starting Wednesday morning we make a promise to ourselves to get off our buttttts and start applying a little each day to reach our goals and we can all keep each other informed on progress. Anyone interested, leave a reply. I will keep checking in and you all can do it just like me so let's not make excuses and try a bit each day....you in?

You are right. I have made a concerted effort to do two of those things: write a book and exercise every day. But now I find myself with so little time to do either. Reading material is piling up, there are soccer games and doctor's appointments. I just seem so busy and can't focus. I have to get back to editing my novel. I have to get back to walking every day. I keep saying the middle of July when all the doctor's and dentist appointments are over with but I'm sure there will be more added to the calendar. I will try though. I will try and get back in the game.

When I say walking "every day" I DO mean every week day. I seem to lapse off when the kids get out of school because I can sleep in and then my day slips away from me. My kids are old enough to stay alone, look after themselves (almost 11 and 14). We also have to keep in mind that I have fibromyalgia and sleep is important to me and sometimes unavoidable (ie I couldn't get out of bed Saturday until after 11am). I have snuck in some editing time on my book and try and get some of that excess reading done while watching the kids in the pool or at soccer practice before the games. Also, I do believe myLot's addiction has gotten in the way. :(

Thank you for your post. Okay let me ask you this. You made a concerted effort to write your book and exercise everyday right? That is good. But, maybe everyday is too much to hold yourself to. Maybe you can start out with little goals like, I must no matter what walk at least 4 days a week. I must no matter what dedicate at least 4 hours a week to my book. You seem so busy because you are and if you were able to get up maybe a half hour or hour earlier to walk, would you? Then, once you get the walking in, you will be able to focus so much better! See, we tend to make time for the appointments, we make time for soccer, but we CHOOSE not to make time for things that are good for us. You can make this change with us starting tomorrow. Give yourself some time today to figure out how much time you WILL dedicate to your book and walking each week. Figure out the best times...usually when kids are sleeping....can you get up earlier to walk, do you have someone to watch the kids if you do? I can help you...Start doing something you want and stick to it and eventually your book WILL be published and bought by many and you will be healthier and feeling better and will have more control over you life from walking!!

Great job and glad your sneaking time in for you. I really can relate to the fibro thing as I have that as well. It is so sad that so many people have to live in pain like that. I will pray for a healing for you! See post below original post okay???

I know that it is too easy for us to put these things off if we aren't accountable for them. There never seems to be enough time in the day.

What I need to accomplish is to make sure that I do my physical therapy exercises at least three days each week even if I am not attending physical therapy right now. I also plan to do additional exercises at least 3 days each week in hopes of losing some weight. I had lost 35 pounds until a medication change caused me to gain it all back. Now I'm struggling to lose it all over again, but not having much luck this time around.

You sure got that right, it is very easy for us to put things off. There never seems to be enough time in the day because we don't choose to enforce the time each day. I have used that phrase alot until I figured out that there is time, we just do not apply ourselves or make it a priority. Start with something though, we only live once, let's start being proud of the things we can do!! Let's start ACHIEVING some of our goals FOR US!!!! You can do it.........

Excellent idea asiblossom :) My doctor has been pushing me to get involved in other activities for months. The only thing I've come up with is volunteering at an animal shelter to help "socialize" (their word, not mine) handle the kittens so they won't be afraid of people and will be adoptable. When I saw the med dr today he asked if I had done anything this past week. When I told him I was volunteering one day a week to help "socialize" the kittens, he said "oh, so now you socialize with animals, not humans???" Arghhhhhhh I need to get some exercise as people say that helps to increase energy and well-being. Thanks for the good idea. Kristiana

Thank you Kristiana! Wow, you are such a compassionate person and I am so proud of you for making the choice you did to volunteer! You are making a difference and you should be proud of yourself. You need to get some exercise in to help your energy level and your well-being. And you know what, so do I. So, what do you say, can you come up with a goal today so that you can start tomorrow with me? We can help each other! I want you to be the best you can and you deserve so what do you think?

Hey thanks for the post. You already have in mind what most people don't when they start. Start small and work your way up. Many of us get all frustrated and dive in hard core and usually end up quitting because it is too much. Starting small, your being honest with yourself. So young lady...I tell you what, get your thoughts together and start figuring out where you need to start organizing first. Kitchen, living room, bedroom whatever it may be and then, before you log on here next walk to that room and start accomplishing some of these things so you can feel great about yourself. Go get some shoes to start walking, until then use what you have now and at least get out there a couple times a week. Don't you give up, it may be hard but many rewards will follow you after your finished! Hey, good luck and if you ever want to email me my address is tinatinagirl5@yahoo.com Remember, I am counting on you because you are also my "driver-motivator too" .............Keep in touch!!

I often wonder why I avoid so many things in my life. I use to take piano lessons when I was a child, and I avoid it because I had a bad relationship with my elementary music teacher. I also had a love for writing poetry in middle school and sometimes posted them to Poetry.com, but I always received mail from them and had never gotten any effort from it.I use to make beaded jewelry for a profit but that also failed. Now that I had graduated from a university and attending a technical training college, I find it hard to go back to the things that love to do. I most of the time find myself sitting at the computer trying to find a way to make money.

Hey Peppersquirrel! (cute name!) Many of us find ourselves doing the same thing your going through. You graduated from a university and are attending a technical training college! That is a huge accomplishment and I am proud of you for doing that! Do you still feel that you love those things you used to do or did the desire go away? Maybe you could just start one thing you love doing and do a bit each day. Your time, your escape time, you may end up finding out that you really enjoy it and wonder why you didn't start it over again earlier! I sat at the computer for many many many hours trying to figure out how to make money. The only thing that I found to be real is to start selling something. Like you could start making your jewerly and put it on a free website for people to buy, or ebay! Just an idea, I will touch base with you a little later on this. Please though, read the post at the bottom of the original message. Thanks

Hey Everyone! Fist of all I am sorry that I told all you to look at my post at the bottom of the page. Little did I know, I can't reply or add to my original message. So, I went down to the last message which is Peppersquirl and here I am. So, today is the day we start making changes in our lives. Because, I don't want to wait for tomorrow to come and say "I wish I would have .....bla bla bla" So, I need to make myself do this. I start with a positive thought in my head telling myself that I refuse to sit here and whine about not doing this or that so here I go and Nothing will stop me. If you would like to share with everyone what your doing and how progress is going please feel free. If anyone needs a lift, advice, motivation please email me or anyone on here. Let's all be here for each other. My goal is starting today to exercise. six days per week no excuses! I already got it out of the way this morning. I went for a good, long walk and it felt Great! Now all I have to get out of the way today is an hour long work out tape. It worked for me before and it will again. I also started eating healthier and making better choices. It is so easy to be tempted to just grab something to eat. Then as it is in my hand I will say, "is this going to benefit me tomorrow? NO, so I chose grapes instead! I am going to try to drink a gallon of water today with allowing myself 3 sodas a week only. So, that is my goal. If you want to share yours please do! Good luck to all and if anyone wants to email me personally my email address is tinatinagirl5@yahoo.com You all can do it so get up and get started Today!!

I made a goal sheet in Microsoft Word. If anyone wants one please email me at tinatinagirl5@yahoo.com and I will send one to you as an attachment. It is a good way to see your accomplishments so you are less apt to give up. I don't know how I can attach a file on here so just send me an email. Thanks, Tina

Well I can say one thing, you are a strong person for saying "am in" because even though you got off tract you are still strong enough to jump back in. That is half the battle! See my post to all of us below the original post I posted here okay?? PS hahahha Stay away from that fried chicken and steak now!! But, make sure you reward yourself at least once a week. This way you learn to work for that yummy fried chickie and you are not deprived cause you know you will be getting it. Thanks for being in this, I need all of you also to be my motivator. Please read post below the original post. Thanks
