With all the HP stuff coming up...a new movie and the final book release, I thought it might be fun to share some ideas on how people might be celebrating these events.
My friends and I love to do theme parties, and for my sister's birthday last year we gave her a Harry Potter themed party. We had chocolate frogs, pumpkin pasties, and even attempted butter beer.
Decorations included signs for platform 9 3/4, a hogwarts banner and a signpost pointing to other destinations in the Potter world.
Everyone came in costumes, including wizards, aurors and one Azkaban escapee (that was me!). It was a great time.
Please share your HP entertaining ideas, including recipes and docroating ideas.

When I do Harry Potter parties I like to go all out. I put out lots of candles (big and small ones), pull out my Alivander's wand, and even like to fill fancy bottles with different colored liquids to look like potions class. I also had the idea of actually filling some bottles with different liquors or mixed drinks so that my party-goers can have their own shot at mixing "potions."
I have also made those Harry Potter recipes that you mentioned, and I put wings on my mother's golden retriever and called her a "golden snitch."
I did go to a Harry Potter party once where they even projected images of the ghosts up high on the walls and added hats and Mad Eye Moody specs to some of the portraits they had around. One of my favorite things was that one of the oganizers made amazing centerpieces with little golden snitches poking out of them. It was really great.

Oh wow! Those parties sound awesome. Projecting the images of ghosts on the wall is a great idea. I wonder if we could project the night sky on the ceiling....
Your mom's dog must have been adorable as the golden snitch! What a good natured dog to let you do that :-)
