Supposing your parents started a restaurant business and it is doing very well every month. One day, they tell you that they are considering retirement and request that you take over or carry on the business.
Would you agree to take over the family business or would you rather pursue your own career or ambitions ?
Would you rather be an entrepreneur or be contented with just being an employee working for others ?
Are you willing to take business risks or do you prefer to avoid them ?

depending on my interests, i could give up my job if the business is something i am interested in doing. it's not that easy to run a business as well as take the necessary risks along it. however, i'm willing to do it, if i know i can do it by having the skills and the heart to do it. i won't do it half-heartedly.
in respect to the parents, i think their children should always consider helping the family first and foremost. when elderly parents seek retirement already, the children should be as helpful as possible. if the children cannot run the business, then at least help find people who could... but still keep an eye on things... children owe that much to their parents... to ensure that their parents can enjoy their retirement age. :)

Good to know that you are very respectful and helpful to your parents.
If you have the interest and skills to run a business, it would be most ideal if you can take over the family business.
As far as possible, we should take into account our parents' wishes and care for them in their old age.
Thanks for your response :D
